    • A capacity-variable air conditioner is capable of controlling capacity and consumed electricity in response to operation mode. The refrigerant compression quantity of a compressor is variably adjusted by control of open/close operation modes via selective combination of open/close valves of bypass pipes and bypass valve of the compressor in response to the operation mode. The capacity-variable air conditioner discharges some of the refrigerant infused into the compressor while the bypass valve of the compressor is opened under energy saving operation mode, such that refrigerant circulation quantity can be adjustably reduced under the energy saving operation mode where load of the compressor is less than that of a normal operation mode, thereby enabling a reduction in the capacity and consumed electricity.

    • The air conditioner includes a first and a second heat exchanger, a plurality of compressors, a pipe for uniform distribution of oil, a plurality of oil separators, and an oil return opening. The first heat exchanger performs heat exchange between air of an indoor space and refrigerant to condition the air. The second heat exchanger is connected to the first heat exchanger through a pipe, to perform heat exchange between the refrigerant and water. The plurality of compressors is installed at one side of the second heat exchanger, to compress the refrigerant to a high temperature and a high pressure. The pipe for uniform distribution of oil communicates the plurality of compressors with each other, to guide a flow of oil within the plurality of compressors to flow between the compressors. Each oil separator is provided at an outlet of a respective compressor, to separate oil included in refrigerant discharged from the compressors. The oil return opening guides the oil separated by each of the oil separators to flow into all or any one of the plurality of compressors.

    • A heat exchanger of an air conditioner comprising: at least one or more refrigerant inlets for connecting a compressor for compressing refrigerant to an expansion device for expanding condensed refrigerant via a piping and for receiving high temperature/pressure refrigerant coming from the compressor via a four-way valve; at least one or more refrigerant outlets for discharging the refrigerant to the expansion device, wherein the number of the refrigerant outlets is greater than that of the refrigerant inlets, such that same performances can be achieved for both the cooling and heating purposes albeit the heat exchanger being simplified in the structure thereof, and manufacturing cost can be reduced to thereby improve the productivity.
