The rotatable scoop is disposed in the region of an annular flow channel, so that between the inflow and the outflow side of the flow channel a constant, yet arbitrarily variable pressure difference can be regulated. The structure revealed requires only a small air component to drive the vane body, and thus only a limited energy requirement is present. The axial displacement motion of the vane body or of a cover body connected to the vane body represents a standard for the induced air quantity and can serve to control a fuel apportionment apparatus.

    • A continuous fuel injection system for metering out fuel to the induction tube of an internal combustion engine. An air flow metering assembly in the induction tube includes a baffle plate which is set with its plane perpendicular to the air flow vector and is mounted on a shaft which slides axially in bearings. As a result of the air flow, the baffle plate is displaced axially to varying extent and this displacement is opposed by a restoring force provided by pressurized fuel and subject to adjustment on the basis of engine variables. A vaned impeller wheel, mounted on the baffle shaft, causes rotation of the shaft in the bearings, thereby eliminating static friction and preventing hysteresis effects. The centrifugal forces generated by the rotation aid in distributing the fuel and in admixing it with the incoming air.

    • An apparatus is proposed which serves the purpose of mixture formation for internal combustion engines, in particular mixture-compressing engines with externally supplied ignition. The apparatus includes an air flow rate meter, which has at least one control body opening the intake tube cross section to a greater or lesser extent in accordance with the air flow to the cylinders, the deflection of which control body directly controls a fuel metering valve. The fuel metering valve is disposed on the end of the control body and extends in a direction pointing in opposition to that of the air flow and is embodied as a needle valve having a metering needle and a metering opening. The metered fuel can be ejected directly downstream of the fuel metering valve via one or more nozzle openings. As a result of the compact, small structure, one apparatus can be associated with each cylinder of the engine directly upstream of the inlet valve and a throttle valve, the various individual throttle valves and the individual control bodies being interconnected and adjustable in common. As a result unequal distribution of the metered fuel-air mixture to the various individual cylinders of the engine is prevented.

The control body is rotatably supported, concentrically with a throttle valve, and is connected with a metering needle which protrudes through a metering opening, at which point a greater or lesser fuel quantity is metered in accordance with the rotational movement of the control body.

    • A fuel metering valve assembly includes an air flow metering member which actuates the movable part of a fuel metering valve. Depending on the displacement of this movable part, two cooperating openings, a control slot and a shaped control orifice, together define the effective flow cross section for the fuel delivered to the engine. In order to improve the resolution of the path of the moving part of the valve assembly, one of the cooperating openings, e.g. the control orifice, is formed as a triangular opening in a sleeve or bushing surrounding an axially slidable shaft which supports the air flow rate-responsive member. The triangular opening may also be defined within the wall of the shaft. The width of the control slot is defined by a spacer ring between two coaxial partial bushings and one edge of the triangular opening is defined by the oblique line separating two partial sleeves.

The other force is a lift force and is developed in accordance with the airfoil principle and as a result of an air flow about the airfoil portion of the air measuring valve. The impedance induced force occurs when the air flow through the suction tube is small, whereas when the air flow through the suction tube is large, the predominant force is the lift force developed in accordance with the airfoil principle.
