摘要： Method of recording and reproducing picture information and a recording medium on which the picture information is recorded by the method, and an apparatus for playing such a recording medium. In addition to video format signal and a coded information signal, graphic codes including picture information are recorded on the recording medium correspondingly to playback sections of the video format signal, the graphic codes being inserted as the subcode of the coded information signal. At the time of playback of the recording medium, a video signal according to the graphic codes corresponding to the playback section of the video format signal is generated each time one playback section of the video format signal is played back. Preferably, presence or absence of the graphic codes is displayed each time one playback section of the video format signal is played back.

摘要： Playback method for use in an apparatus for playing a recording medium having a lead-in area, a first area in which only a coded information signal is recorded, and a second area in which a video format signal and a coded information signal are recorded by using a multiplexing operation. The method is characterized by the operations of reading information recorded in the lead-in area in response to a command, moving an information reading point of the pickup to the first area of the recording medium when subcode picture presence information, which indicates that a graphic code including picture information is inserted in a subcode of the coded information signal, is detected from information recovered from the lead-in area, and reproducing information of the first area preferentially to other areas of the recording medium.

摘要： An image information reproducing apparatus generates a video signal carrying an original image from a read signal acquired from an image information recording medium, prepares a manually-input image to be superimposed on the original image in accordance with an operational input, thereby generating a manually-input image signal, generates a mixed image signal carrying a mixed image having the manually-input image superimposed on the original image, based on the video signal and the manually-input image signal, and stores the manually-input image signal in association with address information in the recording medium of a video signal corresponding to the original image on which the manually-input image is superimposed.

摘要： An information recording disc having a first recording area carrying a digital signal, a second recording area carrying a frequency modulated video signal and a superimposed digital signal, the first and second recording areas respectively having a lead-in area in which index codes relating to the contents of each recording area and including identification information indicating the recording area to which each index code belongs are recorded mixedly. In playing such a recording disc, index codes read from the lead-in area are classified according to the recording area to which each index code belongs, and stored in corresponding memory areas of a memory device, so that the index codes stored in the memory area corresponding to a designated recording area can be retreived in a short time for playing information, and the playing operation is controlled by using the retrieved index codes.

The information comprises: compressed video information; first information, which relates a predetermined image portion in a video image reproduced by the information reproducing apparatus on the basis of the video information, is defined with respect to a position of the predetermined image portion in the reproduced video image, and is recorded at a record position, where the first information can be reproduced simultaneously with the predetermined image portion by the information reproducing apparatus, on the information record medium; second information, which is defined in correspondence with the first information and is recorded at a predetermined record position on the information record medium; and third information, which indicates the record position of the second information on the information record medium, indicates a command to transmit the second information to the external apparatus after reading out the second information, and is recorded at a record position, where the third information can be reproduced simultaneously with the predetermined image portion by the information reproducing apparatus, on the information record medium.

In addition to video format signal and a coded information signal, graphic codes including picture information are recorded on the recording medium, by inserting the graphic codes as a subcode of the coded information signal. At the time of reproduction, a signal according to the graphic codes is mixed with the video format signal. When the recording medium is played back, a portion of the video format signal corresponding to a predetermined period of the video format signal read-out from the recording medium is written in a memory, and the signal according to the graphic code is mixed with a still picture video format signal which is produced by repeatedly reading the stored content of the memory.
