      4 , etc., to prepare a bis- β-methylcarbonylethyl germanium sesquioxide. This compound is oxidized and hydrolyzed (tert-butylhydroperoxide-caustic potash is preferably used), to give bis-β-ethylcarboxylic acid germanium sesquioxide shown by the formula II.
