Means for tensioning the lower apron of drafting-apparatus comprises a tensor-bar urged against the apron by a reciprocable slide movable under spring-action over-an inclined member depending from the bar. A tensionbar 8 is common to a number of aprons and has a depending member 8' on which are mounted a number of sliding members 12, one for each apron. These members are guided while they slide by pins 16, 17 on the member 8', the former pins being disposed in slots 15 and the latter engaging the sides of the slide. The slides are arranged in pairs; between each pair and the tensor-bar is a spring 13 adjustable by a set-screw 32. The slides have skirts 11 bearing against the apron at the opposite reversal point to the tensor-bar, and guides 12, 12' for the apron. Above the slides and below a fixed cover plate 19, is a plate 22 movable to right or left by a handle 28 to an extent limited by a member in a slot 23. The plate 22 carries a spring 25 for each associated pair of slides, the spring having at each end pawls 26 downturned into apertures 14 in the slides divided by a lug 29 into front and rear portions 14', 14". When the apron is under tension, the parts are in the positions shown, with the plate 22 to the right and the pawls 26 in the openings at 14", the slides being thus free to be moved by the springs 13. When it is desired to change an apron, the plate 22 is moved to the left and the slide is pushed back against the springs 13 so that the corresponding pawl moves into the opening 14' and retains the slide by engaging the lug 29, thus releasing the tension in the apron. To .tension the apron, the plate 22 is moved to the right to release the slide by withdrawing the pawl. The skirts 11 are interchangeable to suit aprons of different widths.

    • A charging apparatus and a quality judging apparatus for a packed battery should be configured to prevent reduction of charging/discharging performance at the time of charging the packed battery, to improve reliability of the packed battery, and to secure safety of the packed battery.A charging controller is provided with a maximum value specifying means specifying a maximum value vmaxon of a cell voltage value based on a dispersion degree σ of a secondary cell, a third judging means judging whether or not the maximum value vmaxon of the cell voltage value, which is specified by the maximum value specifying means, reaches a permissible cell voltage value vc or not, and a charging voltage value change means changing a charging voltage applied by a voltage supply means based on a voltage difference between the maximum value vmaxon of the cell voltage value and the permissible cell voltage value vc when the third judging means judges that the maximum value vmaxon of the cell voltage value is larger than the permissible cell voltage value vc.
