    • Provided is a photothermographic material having, on one surface of its support, at least one type of photosensitive silver halide grains, a non-photosensitive silver salt of an organic acid, a reducing agent for silver ions, and a binder; which contains a compound of the following general formula (I) and in which the silver halide grains have a hexacyano-metal complex of the following general formula (II) in their outermost surfaces: wherein R11, R12, R13 and R14 may be the same or different, and each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, an amino group, a nitro group, a cyano group, a carboxyl group or its salt, a sulfo group or its salt, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group, or a group of R15—D—; where R15 represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, an amino group, a nitro group, a cyano group a carboxyl group or its salt, a sulfo group or its salt, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an aryl group, or a heterocyclic group; and D represents —SO2—, —O—, —S—, —CO—, —COO—, —OCO—, —CONH—, —NHCO—, —NHCONH—, —SO2NH— or —NHS02—; [M(CN)6]n−  (II) wherein M represents Fe, Ru, Os, Co, Rh, Ir, Cr or Re; and n indicates 3 or 4.     • A silver halide photographic material comprising a support and a silver halide emulsion layer provided thereon. The silver halide emulsion is prepared by nuclear formation, crystal growth and chemical sensitization. All or a part of the nuclear formation or the crystal growth is conducted in the presence of a hexa-coordinated cyano-complex to introduce the complex into crystal lattice of the silver halide. The density of the hexa-coordinated cyano-complex contained in surface parts of silver halide grains is in the range of 10.sup.-4 to 10.sup.-2 mol per 1 mol of silver. The surface parts of silver halide grains has a thickness of not more than 20.ANG. from the surfaces of the grains. The chemical sensitization is conducted using a gold sensitizer. The silver halide emulsion is prepared using a synthetic polymer as a protective colloid in place of gelatin. In the cases in which gelatin is used, it is present in an amount of not more than 10 g per 1 mol of silver.
