    • In a connector plug with a locking mechanism which can be locked to the mating socket, no matter what part of the plug may be gripped when inserting it into the mating socket, and can be unlocked only by pulling a tubular member of the plug, an insulating body holding pin contacts is disposed in a cylindrical front half portion of a metal cover whose rear half portion is semi-cylindrical. The cylindrical portion of the metal cover has cut therein U-shaped grooves, defining tongue-shaped locking pieces each having a protrusion. The semi-cylindrical portion of the metal cover has attached thereto a metal clamper for clamping a cable and is covered with a semi-cylindrical auxiliary cover to form a rear cylindrical portion. Elastic support pieces of a resin material for supporting the tongue-shaped locking pieces on the inside thereof are axially slidably mounted in the cylindrical portion of the metal cover, and the elastic support pieces are forwardly biased by a coiled spring disposed around the metal cover. The rear half portion of the metal cover and the auxiliary cover are received in a cap of a resin material, and the entire plug structure is housed in the tubular member of a resin material in such a manner that the elastic support pieces can be moved back.

    • In a connector with a locking mechanism an insulator body having contact pins is disposed in a cylindrical metal cover having a tongue formed integrally therewith by cutting a U-shaped groove in its forward portion. The tongue has in its front end portion a radially outward protrusion for locking use formed integrally therewith. An elastic piece is slidably disposed in contact with the underside of the tongue, the rear end portion of the elastic piece projecting out of the metal cover through a slot made therein and coupled as a unitary structure with a drive member mounted on the outside of the metal cover. The rear end portion of the metal cover is covered with a metal shell, and a coiled spring is interposed between the metal shell and the drive member, thereby biasing the elastic piece forwardly. A cable connected to the contact pins is led out through the metal shell, and a bush of a synthetic resin material is formed on the rear end portion of the shell and the adjoining portion of the cable. A cylindrical unlocking member is mounted on the outside the coiled spring, the shell and the forward portion of the bush. By pulling back the unlocking member, the elastic piece can be slid back relative to the tongue.

    • A connector with a short circuit has an insulator body that defines a contact piece housing compartment open at the front, the front half portion of a fixed contact piece extending forward in the contact piece housing compartment and the rear half portion being received and fixed in the insulator body. An insulating engaging portion is provided which extends a predetermined length forwardly of the front end of the fixed contact piece. A movable contact piece is disposed with its rear end portion received and fixed in the insulator body in side-by-side relation to the fixed contact piece, the front end portion of the movable contact piece extending forwardly of the insulating engaging portion. The intermediate poriton of the movable contact piece is bent so that it makes elastic contact with the fixed contact piece. When the mating connector is inserted into this connector, an insulating engaging portion or movable contact piece of the former is displaced out of contact with its fixed contact piece and then the tip of the movable contact piece of the latter slides over the insulating engaging portion of the mating connector and gets into contact with its fixed contact piece.

    • In a multipolar connector plug in which an annular recessed groove is formed in the front face of a square insulating body, and a plurality of contact-receiving holes are formed in the column portion defined inside the annular recessed groove and have female contacts received therein respectively, the front surface of the insulating body is covered with a front shield plate formed of a conductive spring material, and the insulating body is covered with a shield cover so that at least the top rear surfaces and both sides of the insulating body are covered. The front shield plate has a square plate portion having a concentrically made hole equal to or slightly larger than the annular recessed groove, and from the circumferential edge thereof, a plurality of tongue pieces are formed to extend rearward in the annular recessed groove. The front shield cover further includes a contact piece extending rearward from the upper edge of the plate portion along the top surface of the body and a pair of holding pieces extended from the upper and lower edge of the plate portion and bent to the top and bottom surfaces of the body. The contact piece is bent so that at least one of a valley and a crest is formed in the middle portion thereof, and sandwiched by the top plate portion of the shield cover and the top surface of the body to abut the shield cover with a strong elastic force, whereby the front shield plate and the shield cover are electrically connected to each other.
