    • A base station (2a,2b,2c) which can communicate with radio terminals on common and dedicated channels according to specific speeds, is provided with a band-pass which is available according to the use of the common and dedicated channels in order to receive data from a radio terminal on a high-speed uplink channel. An available band-pass is determined in the base station in order to receive the data from at least one radio terminal (1) on at least one high-speed dedicated uplink channel. A first indication relating to the available band-pass is subsequently transmitted on a common downlink channel. At least one second indication relating to a percentage of the available band-pass which should not be exceeded by the radio terminal during a forthcoming transmission on said high-speed dedicated uplink channel is then transmitted independently for each radio terminal.

    • The method makes it possible to locate a radio terminal able to communicate with a plurality of radio base stations associated with respective cells under the supervision of at least one radio network controller receiving data intended for locating the terminal, at least one of the cells comprising predetermined cell portions. The base station associated with this cell comprises means for estimating a cell portion where the radio terminal is situated and for focussing signals for communications with the radio terminal selectively in this estimated radio cell portion. The method comprises steps of transmitting from the base station associated with the cell to the radio network controller at least one parameter intended for the locating of the terminal and relating to the estimated cell portion, and locating the radio terminal as a function of at least this parameter relating to the estimated cell portion.

    • Apparatus and method for encoding and transmitting feedback information from a first network node to a second network node in a multi-carrier wireless telecommunications network. The first network node is operable to receive signals from the second network node on two or more reception carriers and transmit data to the second network node on one or more transmission carriers. Each reception carrier being transmitted within an associated a radio band. The method comprises the steps of: (i) monitoring for a signal on at least two of the reception carriers; (ii) generating feedback information for at least two of the reception carriers based upon received signals; (iii) grouping the feedback information for reception carriers being transmitted within the same radio band; and encoding said grouped feedback information for two or more reception carriers being transmitted within the same radio band; and iv) transmitting the encoded feedback information to the second network node on one or more transmission carriers.
