    • An operation input device and method are provided. The operation input device includes a touch pad having an operation plate on a surface of which an operation surface is formed. The operation plate is configured to sense an object in contact with or in proximity to the operation surface to receive input corresponding to a position of the sensed object. The device also includes a protrusion member that can penetrate through the operation plate to protrude from the operation surface and a protrusion control section that controls a position of the protrusion member.
