摘要： A microclimate management sheet, for placing against a person's body, includes a flexible generally fluid impermeable first layer, a flexible generally fluid impermeable second layer with a gas permeable region for facing a patient's body. The first layer is joined with the second layer in a manner to form a chamber between the first layer and the second layer. An inlet operative to be in fluid communication with a supply of gas and in fluid communication with the chamber is provided for delivering a gas to the chamber, with the gas permeable region for directing the gas the patient's body.

摘要： A patient support apparatus, such as a bed, stretcher, or cot, includes a patient support deck that is directly coupled to elevation adjustment mechanisms without the need for an intervening frame. The elevation adjustment mechanisms may be placed outside the perimeter of the support deck to allow the support deck to be lowered to a greater extent and provide room for attaching side rails to the support deck. The width of the patient support deck may be adjusted by way of extenders, and the sleep surface may also be adjusted by way of foldable strips. A jack type of actuator may be used to pivot the different sections of the support deck with respect to each other. The elevation adjustment mechanisms may include vertical threaded shafts that rotatingly engage threaded collars and raise or lower the collars when the shaft and the collar rotate with respect to each other.

摘要： Location detection systems are provided for determining the location of patient handling devices (22) in a healthcare facility. In one embodiment, the location detection system (20) comprises a locator (52) fixed in each zone (A, B) of each room (Room 1) in the facility. The locator (52) includes at least one infrared transmitter (56) for transmitting a unique location identifier to a receiver (54) mounted on the patient handling device (22). A communication module (48) transmits the unique location identifier from the patient handling device (22) to a network (32) utilized by the healthcare facility for the management of patient, personnel, and equipment information. A processing station (50) located on the network (32) processes the unique location identifier to ultimately determine the room and zone location of the patient handling device (22). The processing station (50) may include a graphical user interface on a touch-screen display for reviewing and manipulating the location information.
