摘要： The elasticity of elastic, absorbent structures, e.g., diapers, is improved without a significant compromise of the absorbency of the structure by the use of bicomponent and/or biconstituent elastic fibers. The absorbent structures typically comprise a staple fiber, e.g., cellulose fibers, and a bicomponent and/or a biconstituent elastic. The bicomponent fiber typically has a core/sheath construction. The core comprises an elastic thermoplastic elastomer, preferably a TPU, and the sheath comprises a homogeneously branched polyolefin, preferably a homogeneously branched substantially linear ethylene polymer. In various embodiments of the invention, the elasticity is improved by preparation techniques that enhance the ratio of elastic fiber: cellulose fiber bonding versus cellulose fiber: cellulose fiber bonding. These techniques include wet and dry high intensity agitation of the elastic fibers prior to mixing with the cellulose fibers, deactivation of the hydrogen bonding between cellulose fibers, and grafting the elastic fiber with a polar group containing compound, e.g. maleic anhydride.

摘要： The present invention pertains to fibers comprising: (A) from 50 to 100 wt. percent (based on the combined weights of Components A and B) of at least one substantially random interpolymer having an I2 of from 0.1 to 1,000 g/10 min, a density greater than 0.9300 g/cm ,and an Mw/Mn of 1.5 to 20; which comprises: (1) from 0.5 to 65 mol percent of polymer units derived from: (i) at least one vinyl or vinylidene aromatic monomer, or (ii) at least one hindered aliphatic or cycloaliphatic vinyl or vinylidene monomer, or (iii) a combination of at least one aromatic vinyl or vinylidene monomer and at least one hindered aliphatic or cycloaliphatic vinyl or vinylidene monomer, and (2) from 35 to 99.5 mol percent of polymer units derived from ethylene or at least one C3-20 alpha -olefin or a combination thereof; and (B) from 0 to 50 percent by weight (based on the combined weights of Components A and B) of at least one takifier. The fibers of the present invention could have applications such as carpet fibers, elastic fibers, doll hair, personal/feminine hygiene applications,diapers, athletic sportswear, wrinkle free and form-fitting apparel, conductive fibers, upholstery, and medical applications including, but not restricted to, bandages, gamma sterilizable non-woven fibers.

摘要： The present invention relates to nonwoven webs or fabrics. In particular, the present invention relates to nonwoven webs having superior abrasion resistance and excellent softness characteristics. The nonwoven materials comprise monocomponent fibers having a surface comprising a polyethylene, said nonwoven material having a fuzz/abrasion of less than 0.7 mg/cm 3 . The present invention is also related to fibers having a diameter in a range of from 0.1 to 50 denier, said fibers comprising a polymer blend, wherein the polymer blend comprises: from 26 weight percent to 80 weight percent (by weight of the polymer blend) of a first polymer which is a homogeneous ethylene/α-olefin interpolymer having: a melt index of from 1 to 1000 grams/l0 minutes, and a density of from 0.870 to 0.950 grams/centimeter 3 , and from 74 to 20 percent by weight of a second polymer which is an ethylene homopolymer or an ethylene/α-olefin interpolymer having a melt index of from 1 to 1000 grams/ 10 minutes, and preferably a density which is at least 0.01 grams/centimeter 3 greater than the density of the first polymer.

摘要： The subject invention provides a polymer mixture having high heat resistivity, low hexane-extractive and controllably lower or higher modulus. The mixture is comprised of at least one first substantially linear ethylene polymer, Component (A), and at least one second ethylene polymer which is a homogeneously branched polymer, heterogeneously branched linear polymer or a non-high density. When fabricated into film, the mixture is characterized by a heat seal initiation temperature which is substantially lower than its vicat softening point as well as a high ultimate hot tack strength. When fabricated as a molded article, the mixture is characterized by high microwave warp distortion while maintaining a lower modulus. The polymer mixture is particularly well-suited for use in multilayer film structures as a sealant layer for such applications as cook-in packages, hot-fill packages, and barrier shrink films. In molding applications, the mixture is well-suited as freezer-to-microwave food storage containers and lids which maintain good flexibility at low temperature to allow easy openability of such containers.

摘要： The present invention relates to nonwoven webs or fabrics. In particular, the present invention relates to nonwoven webs having superior abrasion resistance and excellent softness characteristics. The nonwoven materials comprise fibers made from of a polymer blend of isotactic polypropylene, reactor grade propylene based elastomers or plastomers, and optionally, a homogeneously branched ethylene/alpha olefin plastomer or elastomer. The isotactic polypropylene can be homopolymer polypropylene, and random copolymers of propylene and one or more alpha-olefins. The reactor grade propylene based elastomers or plastomers plastomer have a molecular weight distribution of less than about 3.5, and a heat of fusion less than about 90 joules/gm. In particular, the reactor grade propylene based elastomers or plastomers contains from about 3 to about 15 percent by weight of units derived from an ethylene, and a melt flow rate of from about 2 to about 200 grams/10 minutes. The present invention also relates to cold drawn textured fibers comprising of a polymer blend of Isotactic polypropylene and reactor grade propylene based elastomers or plastomers.
