    • PURPOSE: To obtain an optical network which does not require a multiplex terminal by permitting the respective optical fibers in the network to transmit transmission from only one system node among the respective system nodes. CONSTITUTION: The synchronous network has multiple nodes 14 which are mutually connected by optical pathways 12 or a terminal 11. A route is decided by passing through a common distribution center 13 in the pathways 12. A signal emitted by one arbitrary node is transmitted to all the system nodes provided with nodes generating the signals. Since one node is selected as a reference node for the aim of tuning time and the other nodes adjust the tuning time, all transmissions are synchronized at the common distribution center 13. Namely, the respective optical fibers transmit transmission only from one of the nodes 1-4. In the circuit network, the signals transmitted by the nodes 1-4 via the circuit network are synchronized in the common distribution point 13 during use.

    • PURPOSE: To provide a simple method applicable even in the case that a fault is an intermittent electric fault in the case of locating the fault of the certain submarine long distance optical transmission system of plural optical relay system. CONSTITUTION: Connection is performed from a first terminating part TERM1 on the ground under a water surface to a second terminating part TERM2 on the ground through plural optical repeaters. Counters 1 and 2 at the respective terminating parts count frame alignment word(FAW) pulses and the counters 1 and 2 are started by the injection of a single error at the transmission rack 4 of the terminating part 2 by pulses from a pulse generator 5. When a signal error arrives at the other terminating part 1 after the delay of Nt clock pulses, the counter 1 is started. When a high voltage fault is present, the error is simultaneously generated on all fibers. Since propagation time from a fault part to the terminating part depends on the fault, the position of the fault is decided by a counted number on the stopped counter.

    • PURPOSE: To maintain the accurate time sequence of a signal by constituting a frame of plural messages outputted from respective terminals, receiving these messages in parallel and ordering messages received in previously determined order in the frame in the receiving order of the frame in each terminal. CONSTITUTION: Many identical node devices 20 are mutually connected by optical fiber transmission lines 21 through a common passive optical star coupler 22. When the system is driven, the frames of all nodes are synchronized with a frame outputted from a reference node independently of their phases. Each node having a transmitting public writing part transmits the writing part to its own optical frequency on the data packet of a work frame. Each frame carries data from all system nodes in parallel and provides effective application to system band width. Each received data packet in the frame is processed as data received in the same order as the numbering of wavelength. Each node is held at the fixed time order from other nodes of the network. Since the frame is shorter than transfer time, the high resolution of a time stage can be attained.

    • PURPOSE: To improve productivity by using a single-stage treatment in place of multistage treatments, thereby making it possible to substantially reduce a cost and decreasing the number of treatment times if using an expensive material. CONSTITUTION: A submarine cable core package is formed by directly inserting fibers and a liquid packing material into a sectinoally C-shaped member (C section) of copper, closing this C section and changing (curing) the packing material to an elastic solid state. This package consists of the plural fibers 1 which are subjected to primary coating and are held in the prescribed positions with each other by the cured packing material 2. The packing material 2 is inserted together with the fibers 1 in the liquid state into the C section. The C section is so closed as to constitute a pressure pipe 3. The curing treatment is executed within the closed metallic C section. As a result, the single-stage process including not only an improvement but a cost reduction as well is obtd.
