    • PURPOSE:To efficiently perform electroslag welding by performing electroslag welding while supplying a welding wire having the specified diameter along an inclination to the specified position. CONSTITUTION:Welding is performed with a diaphragm 1 inclined by an inclination theta=2-30 with respect to verticality. Backing materials 15 are welded in the vertical direction in contact with side thick plate materials 7 along the front and rear of both ends of this diaphragm 1. Inclined welding grooves 9 for electroslag welding surrounded by the inner sides of the side thick plate materials 7, both sides of the diaphragm 1 and the inner sides of the backing materials 15 are formed. Electroslag welding is performed while the welding wire 17 having 1.6-2.4mm diameter is supplied along the inclination to the position deviated in the horizontal direction by 1=[10-30]Xtantheta(mm) to the inclined lower side from a center line of the inclined welding grooves 9 from a nonconsumable nozzle 18. Consecquently, the mechanical performance of a diaphragm inclined electroslag weld zone of the box pillar can be maintained satisfactorily.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the welding working time by interposing insert material such as low carbon steel having the melting point higher than base metals into a groove root joint part between the base metals to perform welding and preventing burn through to the rear by the unmelted remainder of the insert material. CONSTITUTION:The burn through to the rear can be prevented by a very simple means that the insert material 5 is interposed into the groove root joint part between the base metals 1. Complete melting of the insert material is prevented and partial penetration is carried out by using the low carbon steel or very low carbon steel having the melting point higher than the base metals 1 as the insert material 5. Further, in order to improve strength of a weld zone, the quantity of partial penetration of the insert material is increased and the insert material is almost molten and it is necessary to perform gas metal welding work under conditions that the burn through does not take place on the rear. By this method, the welding working time is reduced and the satisfactory welded joint part can be made.
