    • A biologically active reactor system for the treatment of wastewater comprises one or more submerged denitrification reactors having coarse media particles and a fixed biological film comprising biologically anoxic active microorganisms. One or more submerged aerated filters are in fluid communication with the one or more submerged denitrification reactor, the submerged aerated filter comprising coarse media particles and a fixed biological film comprising biologically aerobic microorganisms for oxidation of organic matter. One or more deep bed denitrification filters for removal of suspended solids and denitrification of oxidized nitrogens are in fluid communication with the one or more submerged aerated filters, the deep bed denitrification filter comprising fine media particles of less than 6mm. Effluent from the submerged aerated filter is recycled to the submerged denitrification reactor for pre-denitrification prior to being piped to the deep bed denitrification filter. During the method, wastewater influent along with treated effluent from the submerged aerated filter is fed to a submerged denitrification reactor.

    • A reservoir management system for a water reservoir having inlet and outle t piping and means for adding chemicals in controlled amounts to the water within the reservoir. One or more eductor are positioned within the water reservoir to mix and circulate water within the reservoir. A recirculating pump is locate d externally to the reservoir and has an inlet line that taps into the outlet piping from the reservoir. One or more sample lines remove test streams of water from th e reservoir which are analyzed to determine the level of at least one of chemical in the test stream to provide a chemical-related signal. A controller receives the signal and compares the signal to a set point indicative of the level of chemical desired within the reservoir to maintain, increase, or decrease the amount o f chemical added to the water within the reservoir in controlled amounts. A fl ow meter monitors the rate of flow into the reservoir and retention time of wat er and generates one or more signals to the controller as the rate of flow varies from a set point.
