    • Specified is a precise and effective method, which can at the same time be realized with simple means, for detecting radiation (3), in particular X-rays, using a direct-conversion absorption body (2). According to the method, an electric injection current (IIN) is injected into the absorption body (2), and a current measure (MSUM) for the overall current (ISUM) flowing through the absorption body (2) is captured. The current measure (MSUM) is regulated here to a prespecified setpoint value (Mo) by way of setting the injection current (IIN). Based on the level change of the injection current (IIN) or a correlating measurement variable, a detection measure (MD) for the radiation amount striking the absorption body (2) is determined. An associated sensor unit (1) comprises an absorption body (2) of the above-described type and a control unit (8) which is adapted for carrying out the method.
