The invention also relates to assays, methods and kits comprising RANKL and/or antibodies thereto for screening, diagnosis, prediction and monitoring. This invention provides methods for determining a subject's risk of non-traumatic bone fracture, comprising determining the subject's level of RANKL, particularly of soluble uncomplexed RANKL.

摘要： The synovitis hand model represents a rheumatological-orthopaedic teaching aid. It acts as a standard model of the key results of a synovitic (= chronically inflamed) swollen joint. Contrasted with this is a standard key result of a bony (= degenerative) swollen joint. The model consists of a hand prosthesis (1) with a rubber glove (2) pulled over it; the hand prosthesis (1) has in at least one finger joint region a recess (6) 3 mm deep and 8 mm wide, and in at least one recess a 7 mm thicker (11) and 20 mm wider (8) ring (7), either of a soft, resilient material or of a filler composed of 25-35 percent styrene, less then 3 percent silicon dioxide, less than 3 percent titanium dioxide, and hardener, inserted between the hand prosthesis (1) and the rubber glove (2). The finger joint region with inserted, soft and resilient ring (7) acts as a model for the synovitic swollen joint. The finger joint region with inserted ring (7) of light filler mass represents a bony swollen joint.
