    • Embodiments of the present concept are directed to medical devices. For example, a medical device including a display for providing feedback to a rescuer who is performing Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) chest compressions to a patient. The display is structured to graphically indicate an instantaneous value of a measured compression depth of the chest of the patient. The display includes an indicator range that corresponds at least in part to a compression depth range of some of the measured compression depths. An indicator is represented as progressing along the indicator range as the depth changes within the compression depth range to represent a value of the measured compression depth in relation to the indicator range. Depending on the measured compression depth, the indicator progresses at a variable rate relative to a difference in the measured compression depth.

    • A seat belt improvement providing seat belt buckling assistance and automatic release of the seat belt. The seat belt assembly includes an electromagnet located in the seat belt buckle that aligns and draws the seat belt tongue into the seat belt buckle when the seat belt tongue is in close proximity to the seat belt buckle. The buckle may be formed with a funnel region adjacent its open end to assist in aligning the seat belt tongue with the opening of the housing and thereafter engaging the seat belt tongue with the latch mechanism. The buckle may additionally include a manual release element. The buckle may further include one or more illuminated areas to assist the passenger in visually locating the seat belt buckle and/or the manual release element.

    • A dosage for electrotherapy delivered to a patient, such as a defibrillation pulse delivered by an external defibrillator, is selected based on an age-related classification, such as adult or child, and a measured electrical parameter, such as the transthoracic impedance, of the patient. For example, a nominal voltage level for an energy storage circuit may be determined based on a nominal dosage. The nominal voltage level may be adjusted by applying a function that relates voltage level adjustment to impedance to the measured impedance. The function may be selected based on the age-related classification of the patient. The dosage of the defibrillation pulse delivered based on the adjusted voltage level, i.e., the selected dosage, may have a substantially equivalent probability of success for the patient as the nominal dosage would provide for a reference patient with an average transthoracic impedance for the class of which the patient is a member.

    • A fast set up tooling arrangement for a coil placing machine is disclosed wherein the finger elements or blades which support coils as well as a magnetic core into which the coils are to be placed, as well as the reciprocable ram actuated stripper which is movable along those finger elements to engage and move coils into the magnetic core are readily adjustable axially of the machine to accommodate changes in the height of the magnetic core or stack. The arms which grip the core and the length of insulating wedges to be placed in the core may also be adjustable. The axial extent of the finger elements or tooling blades as well as the axial distance traveled by the stripper are simultaneously adjusted by imparting a relative rotary motion between the stripper and finger elements on the one hand and a finger support shaft and stripper actuating ram on the other hand with the respective rotated and fixed elements being threadingly interconnected.To effect stack height adjustment the stripper and its actuating ram are moved to their extended position at which a key interlocks the stripper actuating ram and a threaded finger support shaft to prevent relative rotation therebetween. The stripper and finger elements are also interlocked in this position and in one embodiment a driven gear arrangement engages and rotates the actuating ram and threaded finger support shaft to move threadingly mated second stripper engaging ram portion and a threaded finger holder having the finger elements disposed about its periphery.
