Pianofortes; exercising-apparatus.-In pianofortes adapted for both normal and practising play, as described in Specification No. 17,982, A.D. 1902, the deadening bar or audible indicator A, Fig. 1, is a flat bar revoluble on its axis and provided with means such as the levers f, F and slide H to turn it with its flat face or one edge towards the hammers M, or the bar may have suit able faces and may be moved into one of three positions, corresponding to out of action, slight action, or full action, by means of pivoted levers and a three-stepped slide. The back rail for indicating the release of the hammers may be pivoted to the hammer rest, and may have a projection, which lies over a vertical slide that is moved by means of a horizontal sloped slide, or the projection may be linked to a lever that is raised or lowered by a pivotel lever operated by a stepped slide. The audible indicators A, B, Fig. 5, are located so as to be struck directly by the keys or by attachments carried by the keys, and can be thrown out of action, for normal play, or into action, for practising-play, by a horizontal slide. The indicator B is operated by a slide having a forked end to engage a stud on an arm attached to the indicator B. The hammer rest R is connected with the indicator mechanism A so that the hammers are brought against the strings in practising-play, or the rest R may be moved independently of the indicator A. Equivalent moving parts for operating the attachments may be used instead of horizontal slides.

Rippling-apparatus.-In a flax rippling and deseeding machine of the type having a drum b which co-operates with a belt or belts c or equivalent devices to grip the stalks and carry the material from the feed-table g to the rippling or thrashing device. the latter consists of combs h with curved teeth mounted on parallel shafts h , h , and interlacing opposite to the point of contact between the drum b and belt c. The drum b can rise and fall in its bearings, and is supported by the belt. The teeth of the combs may be farther apart at the inlet end than towards the outlet end of the machine. The shaft h is driven and transmits motion to the shaft h and to the feed-belt.

Exercising-apparatus; pianofortes.-Pianofortes adapted for both normal and practising play, as described in Specification No. 17,982, A.D. 1902, and other practising keyboard devices, are provided with strikers C for audibly indicating the striking and the release of the keys, when the keys are depressed or released in a brisk manner. This is effected by giving play or movement to the strikers after a key is fully down or up. Two oppositely-acting springs D, E for the striker C keep the striker normally well away from the striking indicator F and nearly against the release indicator G. The release indicator is fixed, but the pivoted and padded bar M may be brought into contact with the striking arms C to hold them out of action, partly or completely. The disengaging bar M may be worked by means of a slide. The striking indicator F is hinged and padded and can be turned into any one of several positions by means of a stepped slide. The tension of the keys is preferably varied by the means described in Specification No. 17,982, A.D. 1902, but the tension operating lever is connected to the slide of the release indicator so as to put the release indicator out of action when the lever is moved to apply a tension greater than a certain amount. The musical playing action of the pianoforte is lifted vertically from the keys by means of a foot pedal when it is desired to silence the pianoforte. Two sets of striking arms, one for the striking indicator and the other for the release indicator, may be employed.

摘要： This invention relates to a fuel composition comprising (i) a low sulphur fuel having a sulphur content of less than 30 ppm, a bromine number of less than 10 and an ultraviolet absorbance at 319 nm is below 0.15 and (ii) an effective amount of an ashless friction reducing additive which is a fatty acid having 10-30 carbon atoms or a derivative thereof. The fuel of the specified characteristics shown improved response to the friction reducing additive in respect of its lubricity performance.

摘要： This invention relates to a diesel fuel composition having enhanced lubricity, said composition comprising a major amount of a diesel fuel as base fuel blended with a minor amount of a nitrogen rich fraction characterised in that the nitrogen rich fraction is derived from a source material selected from (i) a solvent extract of a solid or semi-solid natural fossil, or, (ii) a refinery process stream or blend, the sulphur to nitrogen atom ratio in the nitrogen rich fraction being less than 4. The nitrogen rich fraction has an absolute nitrogen content of at least 1000 ppm by weight and this fraction is (re)blended with the base fuel is no more than 1% by weight of the total fuel composition. Methods of separating, recovering and reblending such naturally occurring nitrogen compounds can be installed or retrofitted at existing refinery and crude oil processing facilities without any substantial increase in production costs.
