摘要： A printer for printing a viscous material at predetermined positions forming a pattern on a substrate. The printer includes a frame, a device, mounted to the frame, having a number of perforations arranged to form the pattern, a support apparatus, coupled to the frame, that supports the substrate in a printing position beneath the device, and a material dispenser. The material dispenser has a chamber to contain the viscous material to be printed on the substrate. The chamber has an opening through which the viscous material is dispensed. The material dispenser is coupled to the frame, positioned over the device, and constructed and arranged to dispense the viscous material through the perforations in the device and onto the substrate. The material dispenser has a retraction device that prevents leakage of the viscous material from the opening after dispensing is complete.

The system comprises a AC-to-AC converter that includes a plurality of switching elements, an energy source that provides an oscillating voltage and is connected to the converter, an electrical load connected to the converter, and a controller that controls the converter, and monitors the oscillating voltage and the load current delivered to the electrical load. The controller determines a plurality of machine states of the converter, each of the plurality of machine states representing a corresponding conducting set of the plurality of switching elements, and controls switching between the plurality of machine states based on polarity commutations of the load current in the electrical load and polarity commutations of the oscillating voltage.

摘要： The invention offers the ability to rapidly synthesize multiple chemical compounds, particularly polymers of varying sequences, in parallel on the surfaces of carrier beads. Tinvention involves attaching up-converting phosphors (UCP's) to beads to create up-converting phosphor-loaded beads (UCP-loaded beads) with unique spectral characteristics. Using a dynamic sorting architecture each bead is cataloged based on its spectral characteristics, assigned a compound or polymer to be synthesized, and subjected to multiple rounds of sorting by a flow cytometer, wherein each round sorts the bead to an appropriate bin for a selected chemical reaction, such as the attachment of a monomeric subunit of the polymer sequence.
