摘要： Disclosed is a photopolymerizable holographic recording medium for data storage that comprises colloidal metal, and which exhibits a threshold for a second stage polymerization which is substantially insensitive to the light used for both forming holograms and interrogating the medium during servo and/or read events. Also disclosed is a method of preparing said photopolymerizable holographic recording medium. Also disclosed is a method for preparing a colloidal without additives in a viscous medium.

The novel holographic recording mediums disclosed herein comprises: a) at least one polyfunctional epoxide monomer or oligomer which undergoes acid initiated cationic polymerization. Each epoxide in the monomer or oligomer is linked by group comprising a siloxane to a silicon atom and each monomer or oligomer has an epoxy equivalent weight of greater than about 300 grams/mole epoxide; b) a binder which is capable of supporting cationic polymerization; c) an acid generator capable of producing an acid upon exposure to actinic radiation; and optionally d) a sensitizer.

摘要： Photosensitizing dyes are often used in conjunction with a photoacid generator in holographic recording media. Conventional photosensitizing dyes typically are limited by having an appreciable absorption of light when used in a sufficient concentration, such that the intensity of light decreases significantly with penetration into a recording medium. The present invention discloses a number of new 5-alkynyl substituted napthacene photosensitizing dyes that have low extinction coefficients coupled with good sensitizing properties, such that the problems associated with the photosensitizing dyes absorbing light are significantly reduced.

摘要： Methods and apparatus for making optically readable storage media in which reading beam passes through bonding layer configured with reactive material that transforms from optically transparent state to optically opaque state after exposure to predefined stimulus, thereby inhibiting access to data encoded on optically readable storage media. The method includes steps of synthesizing blocked dye, combining the blocked dye with carrier material, curing the resultant combination, deblocking dye to produce a reduced dye in the resultant bonding layer, exposing optically readable storage media with the reactive material in its bonding layer to predetermined stimulus. A further aspect includes optically readable storage media wherein reading light passes through bonding layer and data encoded information is encoded on L1 substrate. Another aspect includes processes for making optically readable storage media with at least two mechanisms for limiting access to encoded data of the optically readable storage media.

摘要： The present invention discloses a new class of triarylsulfonium salt photoacid generators (PAGs), which are thermally stable and can be activated by long wavelength UV or visible light. The sulfonium PAGs of the present invention are additionally soluble in monomers that can be polymerized by cationic polymerization chemistry, and mixtures of said sulfonium PAGs and monomers can be stored for long periods of time without undergoing polymerization. Furthermore, typical holographic recording media comprising one of these sulfonium PAGs, polymerizable monomer(s), a sensitizing dye, and a binder can be stored for long periods of time without exhibiting significant loss of recording sensitivity. Preferred sulfonium PAGs of the present invention are sulfonium PAGs substituted with one or more fluoro or fluoroalkyl groups.

摘要： A device to facilitate self-catheterisation in women suffering from deviation from normal bladder function is provided. The device includes a handle designed for manipulation by a patient and a catheter co-operable with the handle such that the catheter can be inserted into the patient's urethra by manipulation of the handle. The device has a flexion portion to allow the catheter to be positioned in a desired orientation relative to the handle for ease of insertion. The handle and catheter may be designed as a one-piece disposable construction or may be separate elements, the handle being useable with disposable catheters. The flexion portion may be an articulation structure, such as a ball-and-socket joint. Catheterisation is further facilitated by the provision of a mirror and/or light source on or associated with the handle.
