    • A switching assembly having some conductor strips molded in the base and extending outwardly to form connector terminals. Other conductive strips are disposed on the surface of the base and have the ends extending outwardly to also form connector terminals. The conductive strips have other portions bent upward to plug directly into a printed circuit board. A plurality of switches are mounted on the base and a switch is mounted on the circuit board directly above a base mounted switch. User movement of cover mounted rockers actuates the base mounted switches through push pins passing through clearance holes the circuit board. The circuit board mounted switch after user effected rocker actuation absorbs overtravel resulting from continued user movement of the rocker and is operative to move a sliding plunger in the circuit board to operate the base mounted switch directly below.

    • An indicator providing an electrical indication of the positions of a user movable mechanical selector. The indicator base has a plurality of spring biased contact pins slidably contacting patterned conductive regions on the surface of the selector for completing a circuit through, or between the pins for indicating selector positions. The indicator base cover is telescopically mounted on the base with conductive springs connecting terminals provided in the cover with the pins. One pin has a shorting bar for providing an auxiliary current path. An annular seal about the outer periphery of the telescoping cover provides sealing about external casing structure. The indicator base is adapted for mounting about a common point axis for the movable selector for accuracy of location.

    • The plastic non-conducting housing is provided with two pairs of terminals the inner ends of which serve as busses and fit in grooves in the interior, each pair being separated by an integral rib which is slightly higher than the busses so the associated spring loaded roller-like shorting bar mounted in the axially moveable carrier is held out of contact with the busses. The molded housing is cored along the length of the rib where switching is desired. Therefore, where the housing is cored there is no rib to prevent the shorting bar from completing the circuit between the busses. When the shorting bar engages the busses the friction between the loading spring and the knurled central section of the roller is greater than the friction between the roller and the busses so the roller slides on the busses to obtain "wipe". When the roller engages the rib the friction between the roller and rib is greater than between the roller and spring so the roller rolls and will present a new surface to the busses on the next operation. The carrier is spring loaded to project out of the housing and is moved inwardly in response to the position of an external mechanism.

    • Increasing pressure acting under the thin plastic film diaphragm will move the actuator upward against the force of the outer reset spring until the upper inside washer/seat engages the outer washer/seat causing the inner trip spring to be compressed with further upward movement. Thereafter, switch actuation is opposed by both springs and the trip force is determined by both springs. As pressure decreases after the switch has tripped, the inside spring seat engages the shoulder on the actuator so only the reset spring is effective to determine the reset force. Both springs are assembled on the actuator prior to assembly in the pressure switch. The terminal structure is novel in the way it is positively located and accurately locates the switch.

    • A vacuum switch in which the diaphragm movement with increasing vacuum is opposed by two springs which determine the vacuum required to actuate the switch. As the vacuum subsequently decreases one of the springs is rendered inoperative before the switch resets so the reset vacuum is determined by the one spring remaining effective. The spring which is rendered inoperative is compressed between the actuator and an eyelet which can seat on the actuator (spring ineffective) or the housing (spring effective) and which also functions to limit motion of the actuator relative to the eyelet so the switch operated by the actuator cannot be overstressed.

    • The actuating knob is biased to a center (off) position and can be actuated in opposite directions in each of two planes. Actuation in one plane serves to actuate either of two switches. Actuation in the other plane will actuate either of the same two switches but prior to actuating the switch will mechanically actuate a transmission through a Bowden cable. The cable wire is connected to the free end of each of two levers pivoted on the mounting bracket. Each lever is engaged by a pin protruding from a disc carried on the end of a cylinder rockably mounted in the switch casing and actuated by the knob. When the cylinder is moved from its normal mid position, one of the pins lifts the lever (the other lever has to go along) to lift the cable wire.
