    • A networked system for controlling the mobile access to a data service, which may provide encrypted data, is presented. The system may include a mobile device and a mobile access control server, which controls the mobile device's access to the data service by controlling the access information required to access the data service. The system may also include a content server that provides the data service, a certification authority, and a network for enabling communication among the components of the system. To access encrypted data services, the mobile device communicates an access request to the mobile access control server, which determines whether access should be granted, and provides access information to the mobile device, enabling the mobile device to establish encrypted communication with the content server and/or to decrypt the encrypted data provided by the data service via the content server.

    • A wireless communication system allows mobile users to access a resource from a content server. The wireless communication system includes a browser that allows mobile users to access resources through a wireless application protocol (WAP) compliant server. The (WAP) compliant server connects the browser to a content server. This connection allows resources to be passed between the browser and the (WAP) compliant server. The browser is further configured to transmit a request that includes an address for a resource, a protocol to be used, and one or more textual parameters encoded into a binary data packet. The wireless communication method includes generating a request for a resource; translating a textual portion of that request into binary data at the browser; transmitting the request to a wireless gateway; and converting the request into a format that is compatible with a protocol used by a receiving network.

    • A system for controlling the access of services from a service provider to a client terminal provides capabilities for the user to change and modify the desired services and have the modified access information communicated to the client terminal or navigation device. The system provides a wireless connection between the client terminal and the server by way of a communications network. The server at the service provider may allow a user to modify the configuration data relating to the access rights of the client terminal. The modified configuration data may be stored on the server and wirelessly transmitted to the client terminal and stored on the client terminal. The modified configuration data may provide access to the services provided by a second service provider allowing the navigation device to access the services that are available on the second service provider as well as those available on the first service provider.

    • The navigation device is provided with a device for display of advertisements in a scene of a particular region or area. The navigation device has a processor (1,12), a memory (2,13), a positioning device (3,14), an optical display (5,16), an acoustic display (8,19), a receiver (6,17) and an input device (9,20). The scenes displayed by the navigation device are either actual scenes for an area or region in which the navigation is located or simulated scenes. The data for the display of the scene are either loaded from a data or information-bearing medium, such as a CD-ROM, or received by means of the receiver. Particular objects in the displayed scene may be connected with additional information which can be requested by the user by the input device. The number of objects, which particularly have advertisements, are established according to the speed of the vehicle containing the navigation device and the position of the navigation device. The navigation device can also be provided with a bus for convenient connection of the components.

After an emergency call has been triggered at the vehicle, the method establishes a data connection to an emergency call assistance center via the mobile communication system, transmits emergency information to the emergency call assistance center using the data connection, establishes a first voice connection to the emergency call assistance center via the mobile communication system, and transmits a DTMF message including emergency information using the established first voice connection.
