摘要： An osteoprosthesis component which is suitable for fitting to the end of a first bone which has been resected, in a joint between that bone and a second bone, includes a transverse portion which can be fitted across the resected end of the first bone. The transverse portion has a planar first surface which faces the resected end of the first bone when the component is implanted and a second surface for engaging the second bone directly or indirectly. The component includes a rail portion around at least part of the periphery of the component extending in a direction away from the second bone, in which the inwardly facing surface of the rail portion is generally rounded extending continuously from the planar first surface of the transverse portion when the component is viewed in cross-section.

摘要： This invention relates to a surgical kit for cartilage repair at an articulating surface of a joint, comprising a medical implant (10) and a set of tools. The medical implant (10) comprises a substantially plate shaped implant body (27) having a predetermined cross-section that substantially corresponds to the area of the damaged cartilage. The set of tools includes a guide tool (12) comprising a positioning body (11) and a guide channel (54). The positioning body has a cartilage contact surface that has a shape and contour that is designed to correspond to and to fit the contour of the cartilage or subchondral bone in the joint in a predetermined area surrounding the site of diseased cartilage. The guide channel (54) has a cross-sectional profile that is designed to correspond to the cross-section of the plate shaped implant body. Additional tools in the set of tools, e.g. a drill-guide, have a cross-sectional profile that is designed to correspond to the cross-sectional profile of the guide channel (54).
