    • A valve 26 comprises a valve cartridge 40, a valve stem 42 and a valve seal 66. The valve cartridge 40 comprises a generally cylindrical cartridge body, a bore 67 extending longitudinally through the cartridge body, and an outlet passage 69 and intermittent inlet passages 76 extending through a side wall of the cartridge body to intersect the bore 67. The valve stem 42 comprises an elongate body configured to slide within the bore 67, and a neck 82 and a seal channel 114 circumscribing the elongate body. The valve seal 66 is seated within the seal channel 114. The valve stem 42 slides within the bore 67 to move the seal channel 114 past the inlet passages 76. Portions 74 of the cartridge body between the inlet passages 76 retain the valve seal 66 within the valve channel 114 until the inlet passages 76 are open to the neck 82. In one embodiment, the inlet passages 76 form a crenelated edge 72. In another embodiment, the inlet passages form a ported end 120.

    • An electronic stethoscope includes a housing configured for hand-held manipulation, a transducer supported by the housing and configured to sense auscultation signals at a first location, and a headset coupled to the housing and configured to deliver audio corresponding to the auscultation signals through earpieces on the headset. The electronic stethoscope further includes a processor disposed in the housing and configured to convert the auscultation signals to first digital signals representative of the auscultation signals and to wirelessly transmit the first digital signals from the electronic stethoscope via a secure digital network to a second location such that the audio corresponding to the auscultation signals is provided to headsets of one or more additional electronic stethoscopes at the second location in substantial real time with the sensing of the auscultation sounds at the first location.
