摘要： A forming apparatus (635) is described herein that is used in a glass manufacturing system (100) to form a glass sheet (605). The forming apparatus (635) includes a body (722) having an inlet (702) that receives molten glass (626) which flows into a trough (706) formed in the body (722) and then overflows two top surfaces (726a and 726b) of the trough (706) and runs down two sides (708a and 708b) of the body (722) before fusing together where the two sides (708a and 708b) come together to form a glass sheet (605). The trough (706) has a bottom surface (716) and an embedded object (718) formed thereon that are both sized to cause a desired mass distribution of the molten glass (626) to overflow the top surfaces (726a and 726b) of the trough (706) to enable the production of the glass sheet (605).

摘要： A method of sintering large refractory ceramic articles is disclosed. The method includes supporting a green refractory body on a plurality of support plates, the support plates in turn being supported by a plurality of support members having arcuate upper and lower surfaces. A setter material is disposed between the green refractory body to be sintered and the support plates. As the refractory body is sintered, the density of the article increases. Concurrently, the dimensions of the body decrease, which shrinkage, unless otherwise accommodated, may cause fracture of the body. The support plates and the structure of the support members, move to prevent the development of detrimental stresses in the refractory body as it sinters.

The pull roll assembly includes a first roll assembly, a second roll assembly and a device (e.g., differential drive, sensor(s)). 摘要： Methods of drawing glass sheet via a downdraw process are provided. In certain aspects, the methods utilize rapid cooling below the root (70) of the forming apparatus (10). Such rapid cooling can, for example, facilitate the use of glass having a liquidus viscosity less than about 100,000 poise. In other aspects, the methods utilize slow cooling between the viscosities of 10 11 poises and 10 14 poises. Such slow cooling can facilitate the production of glass substrates which exhibit low levels of compaction. In further aspects, substrates are removed from the glass sheet at elevated temperatures which can facilitate increases in the production rates of downdraw machines. In still further aspects, rapid cooling below the root, slow cooling between the viscosities of 10 11 poises and 10 14 poises, and/or substrate removal at elevated temperatures are combined. Such combinations can facilitate economically effective utilization of downdraw equipment.
