    • A signal processing system is provided which describes a method and apparatus to determine the absolute time of arrival of a transmitted signal and to determine the location of a transmitting device by determining the relative difference in time that a transmitted signal is received at three or more receivers which are spaced apart with respect to each other. The method and apparatus is applicable to all systems which transmit discrete signals or signals which comprise composite components. The system comprises a ramp detection component to track the arrival of the signal and to determine, to a high time resolution, the arrival of a signal by identifying a particular feature of the transmitted signal. The time-of-arrival of the signal is determined with reference to a timing circuit. Each receiver further comprises a timing-synchronisation component to maintain a highly accurate clock by using an accurate timing reference such as the timing signals transmitted by the Global Positioning System constellation of satellites. In one embodiment the method is applicable to the transmission of discrete signals according to the protocol of a packet switching network.

    • A remote asset management system comprising a network of programmable wireless modules, each having an antenna and an identification module and configured to communicate via a radio communication protocol. The system further includes a plurality of assets each linked to one of the programmable wireless modules and configured to be managed by the linked programmable wireless module. A remote system server service platform is configured to receive remote asset data from at least one of the programmable wireless modules, pass the remote asset data to and from the wireless modules, send messages to at least one of the programmable wireless modules, monitor the programmable wireless modules by requesting and receiving current mode information, and remotely program the programmable wireless modules. A data processing module located within the at least one programmable wireless module and configured to process messages received by the programmable wireless module, authenticate said message, analyze authenticated messages, and carry out asset management instructions included in the message.

    • A system and method for remote asset management is described which can provide the basis for a diverse product group including an improved remote location monitoring system, a means for communicating with and for monitoring the status and or location of a plurality of diverse assets, as well as the means for communicating with said assets for the purpose of modifying the operational status of one or more of said assets according to one or more stored data parameters such as location, use, battery power, and such like. The remote asset management system comprises a wireless module, which is associated with at least one of the plurality of asset and which is interfaced with the operating system of said assert and or with an electromechanical control means, which may control one or more features of the operation of said assets. A supporting network-based, or internet-based service platform, controls and manages the status of each of the plurality of assets, either automatically, or in response to received messages from fixed or wireless communication devices, and which is capable of selectively communicating data to said assets for changing the operational status of said assets according to pre-programmed conditions.
