Stands for recreation grounds. - A stand for shows, sports grounds, &c., is constructed of metal treads 5 supported by longitudinal risers 3 each formed of metal plate, the risers having angles at their top and bottom edges, those at the top being attached to the front edges of the treads, while those at the bottom are attached to inclined angled supports 2 (or " raker joists.") In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the angled connections between the main members consist of angleirons 1, 4, the irons 1 extending across the joists and having recessed portions 7 , Fig. 2, for connection thereto. Special attachments to the joists for supporting the angle-irons may be provided, as shown for example in Fig. 3. Instead of providing separate angle-irons at the top and bottom edges of the risers, one or both of these edges may be flanged. Such modifications are shown in Figs. 5 and 6. As shown in Fig. 5, the bottom edge of each riser 3 and the. meeting edge of the adjacent tread 5 are flanged and connected together to the joists 2, angle-irons 11 connecting the upper edges of the risers to the treads. In the construction shown in Fig. 6, integral flanges are formed at both edges of the risers.

    • Disclosed is a method of manufacturing an electrically conductive feedthrough in an article having a ceramic surface comprising the steps of inserting a feedthrough preform into and closely fitting an insertion hole in the article, said preform integrally comprising an outer surface comprising at least in part an active alloy capable of reacting with an inner surface of said insertion hole to wet said inner surface and form a braze and then heating and cooling said article and said feedthrough preform to form a braze sealing said feedthrough to said article. Also disclosed are feedthrough preforms comprising either an active alloy wire or a composite wire having a core and an outer layer of an active alloy. The invention further comprises fixing a non-melting electrical conductor to either feedthrough preform during the brazing step.
