    • The invention relates to a vehicle, particularly an automobile (100), comprising an on-board supply system (1′), at least one peripheral device (1), and at least one socket (2, 2b, 2c, 2d) for connecting user terminals (5), such as notebooks, mobile telephones, pocket PCs, handheld devices, and similar, to the at least one peripheral device (1), e.g. a multifunctional infotainment module, and the on-board supply system (1′) of the vehicle. According to the invention, the housing (4) of the at least one socket (2, 2b, 2c, 2d) is provided with a recess (4a) which is located on the side facing the plug and in which at least one connection (3a) that is connected to a power conductor (6) of the vehicle for supplying the user terminals (5) with power and at least one connection (3b) that is connected to a data line (6) of the vehicle for transmitting data between the user terminals (5) and the at least one peripheral device (1) are disposed. The power conductor (6) is electrically connected to the on-board power system (1′) while the data line (6) is connected to the peripheral device (1).

    • A speech recognition system provides a subword decoder and a dictionary lookup to process a spoken input. In a first stage of processing, the subword decoder decodes the speech input based on subword units or particles and identifies hypothesized subword sequences using a particle dictionary and particle language model, but independently of a word dictionary or word vocabulary. Further stages of processing involve a particle to word graph expander and a word decoder. The particle to word graph expander expands the subword representation produced by the subword decoder into a word graph of word candidates using a word dictionary. The word decoder uses the word dictionary and a word language model to determine a best sequence of word candidates from the word graph that is most likely to match the words of the spoken input.

    • Serving advertisements with (e.g., in) audio documents may be improved by (a) accepting at least a portion of a document including audio content, (b) analyzing the audio content to determine relevancy information for the document, and (c) determining at least one advertisement relevant to the document using at least the relevancy information and serving constraints associated with advertisements. The advertisements may be scored if more than one advertisement was determined to be relevant to the document. Then, at least one of the advertisements to be served with an ad spot for the document may be determined using at least the scores. Examples of documents include radio programs, live or recorded musical works with lyrics, live or recorded dramatic works with dialog or a monolog, live or recorded talk shows, voice mail, segments of an audio conversation, etc. The audio content may be analyzed to determine relevancy information for the document by converting the audio content to textual information using speech recognition.     • Methods and apparatus for analyzing the chemical composition of vulnerable plaques with an intravascular catheter having a near-infrared light source, a fiber-optic probe, a mechanism for directing the light from the light source into a blood vessel, and detectors for detecting light reflected or scattered by the tissue. The light source may be a tunable laser, and may transmit an incident beam having a wavelength ranging from 1400 to 4100 nm. A computer may be included to receive and process the spectral data in the analysis of the vulnerable plaques. A catheter system may be configured to provide near-IR spectrometric imaging of arteries to non-destructively locate and determine lipid pool and fibrous cap size and composition. Additionally, mediators and cellular components may be also determined that are typically associated with vulnerable plaques which have an increased risk of rupture. The lipid pool, fibrous cap, and inflammatory response may serve as an in vivo marker for vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques. Methods are further provided for prospectively identifying and characterizing vulnerable plaques which may include the steps of focusing near-IR light onto a blood vessel wall; detecting the scattered light in the region; and analyzing the resulting spectra across the full preselected wavelength range, particularly in the ranges that include identifying peaks for vulnerable plaque constituents.
