摘要： This is for a payment device that may be constructed from separate modules in a secure fashion such that the aggregation of the modules constitutes an overall secure device without the use of additional covers, cases, or tamper-resistant housings. The methods and system are provided whereby the devices within a modular payment system can exchange data between each-other in a secure fashion. While data encryption is being used elsewhere, the present invention extends the security zone from each secure payment module within a modular device out over the cable to the next device. This allows the user to purchase payment device components, place them as they see fit, and not have to obtain certification on their end product as a POS-A level payment device.

A variable indicating the number of calls received from the first telephone number is incremented (312). The variable is compared to a threshold variable (316). Subsequently, the user is prompted to save the first telephone number in an address book (319) when the variable indicating the number of times an incoming call is received from the first telephone number is equal to, or greater than, the threshold variable. The first telephone number is then stored in the address book. Moreover, an apparatus can be assembled (200) to provide cellular telephone users with, for example, instructions and information via a speaker (228) and an LCD display (238). The apparatus is configured to provide instructions and information to the cellular telephone user at appropriate times, thereby increasing the cellular telephone's usefulness.

摘要： A secure terminal, such as one used for point-of-sale debit card transactions, has a secure enclosure containing some or all of the terminal components, and is configured to send sensitive and non-sensitive data to a display located outside of the secure enclosure. The terminal includes a source chip that protects data sent from the terminal to the display. The source chip protects the data by detecting that the display is connected, authenticating the display as a device that is authorized to receive the data, and encrypting the data before transmission. Preferably, the display is a commercially-available consumer electronic device, such as a television or computer monitor. The source chip communicates with a receiver chip on the display to perform the detection, authentication, and encryption methods of the invention.

摘要： Methods and apparatuses for shaping a corner of a printed circuit board are disclosed. An apparatus in accordance with one embodiment includes a carrier configured to releasably contact a printed circuit board, a curved contact surface positioned to roll against a corner of the printed circuit board. Optionally, another curved contact surface can be positioned to roll against another corner of the printed circuit board. The contact surface can be rotatable relative to the carrier about a rotation axis that is generally parallel to at least a portion of the curved contact surface. The contact surface can be continuous or discontinuous, and can shape the corner of the printed circuit board with a reduced tendency for damage to the printed circuit board. Multiple contact surfaces can be rotatable about different rotation axes.
