摘要： A computer program product for processing communications between a host processor and a plurality of devices includes a tangible storage medium for performing a method comprising: receiving, by the host processor, physical configuration information including identification of a location of each physical endpoint connected to the host processor and a plurality of communication paths associated with each physical endpoint; sending at least one message to each physical endpoint on each of the plurality of communication paths, the at least one message requesting identification of a logical entity at the endpoint, and receiving logical configuration information identifying the logical entity; and generating a data collection accessible by the host processor, the data collection including the physical configuration information and the logical configuration information for each logical entity, and identification of a location of each physical endpoint connected to the host processor and a plurality of communication paths to each logical entity.

The HMC extends Internal Queued Direct I/O to an intra-ensemble data network (IEDN) within a cluster of virtual servers to define a single channel path identifier, and to define a channel parameter. The HMC defines at least one virtual network. The HMC defines a bridge port within each CPC that supports at least one of the virtual servers. The HMC defines a network interface for each virtual server within each cluster. The HMC grants access to a corresponding virtual network for each virtual server.

摘要： A method and system are disclosed for generating a data logout in a computing environment having a processor and an input/output subsystem for receiving data from and sending data to the processor. The method comprises the steps of the input/output subsystem maintaining a defined set of data; at defined time, the processor issuing a data logout command; and sending said data logout command to the input/output subsystem. In response to receiving said data logout command, the input/output subsystem sends said defined set of data to a specified location. In a preferred implementation, the input/output subsystem includes a channel subsystem and a plurality of input/output devices, and the data logout command is sent to one of the input/output devices. Also, in the preferred embodiment, the channel subsystem includes a channel control unit function and the data logout command is sent to the channel control unit function.

摘要： Validation of a re-initialized CTC connection between a first channel and a second channel is provided in a computing environment in which a CTC CU function can be provided in either channel after initialization of the CTC connection and can move from one channel to the other after re-initialization of the connection. After initialization, a newly formatted CDR having a device NED and a specific NEQ is stored. After re-initialization, a current CDR with the same format is obtained. The re-initialized CTC connection is validated if the stored set of NED and NEQ values match the current values, in any order.

摘要： Channel-to-channel communications is provided by integrating channel-to-channel functionality into one or more communication channels of a computing environment which may include heterogenous computer systems. The one or more channels having the integrated CTC function are non-dedicated channels also capable of conventional channel functionality. Work units at such channels are forwarded to either the CTC function or the channel function based on work unit type. Further, a facility is provided for. automatically deciding which of the first channel and the second channel is to provide the CTC function for a CTC connection. Partition-to-partition communication can also be accomplished using the integrated CTC function by establishing an internal logical path between a first logical partition and the CTC function and a second logical path between a second logical partition and the CTC function.
