    • The present invention concerns a process for preparing a multihardness foam article in a mould having the bottom surface flat or inclined up to 40 degrees to the horizontal plane. The process is characterized by the following steps: (a) arranging a dispensing means, comprising at least two outlets for dispensing at least two foam formulations, the outlets being arranged in a line, and the distance between adjacent outlets being less than the width of the mould, so that the outlets move across the mould either at or near one of the edges of the flat bottom surface or at or near the top of the incline of the inclined bottom surface along the line defined by the outlets; (b) effective relative motion of the outlets across the mould along the line defined by the outlets; and (c) dispensing from each outlet simultaneously a foam formulation whilst the outle is directly above the inside of the mould. The present process is particularly suitable for the preparation of a car seat comprising a layered foam seating area and single hardness or encapsulated foam side rolls in a single continous pouring operation.

    • A process for preparing a multilayered foam article such as an automotive seat is disclosed. A mold is arranged so that the bottom surface of the mold is flat or inclined up to 40 degrees to the horizontal plane. The first liquid foam formulation designed to produce a soft foam is poured into the mold from a mixing head outlet strip-wise across the seating zone of the mold along the line parallel to but near the external wall of the seating zone of the mold. Then, the second liquid foam formulation designed to produce a hard foam is poured into the mold from the same or different mixing head outlet strip-wise across the seating zone of the mold along the line parallel to but nearer to the external wall of the mold than the line of pouring of the first liquid foam formulation. The second liquid foam formulation is then allowed to spread on top of the first liquid foam formulation, the mold is closed and the foames are allowed to rise and cure in the mold. The process produces an article having excellent layered-foam seating area.

    • A process for the preparation of a soft, flexible, hot molded polyurethane foam is prepared by reacting a polyol formulation comprising a polyether polyol, a non-trimerization polyurethane catalyst and water with an organic isocyanate under hot molding conditions. The polyol formulation further comprises (a) at least one poly(oxyalkylene) polyether polyol having functionality of at least two, an ethylene oxide content of at least 80 percent and a molecular weight greater than 1,000; and (b) at least one monofunctional additive. The addition of a least one monofunctional additive and at least one poly(oxyalkylene) polyether polyol of functionality of at least two, an ethylene oxide content of a least 80 percent and a molecular weight greater than 1,000 to a conventional polyether polyol formulation has positive effect on foam processing, cell opening, and foam softness and does not negatively affect foam aging properties, especially its compression sets.
