    • A discrete material washing apparatus comprises a structure (8) mounting an elongate trough (10) having an inlet (12) and an outlet (13). A dished tray (11) is mounted on the structure (8) and shaped to feed into the inlet (12). The tray (11) is to receive disposal of a cementatious mixture therein. A cylindrical screen (14) has a net surface. The screen (14) extends substantially along the length of the trough (10) and is adapted for rotation. Water spray means is provided to play on any mixture disposed onto the tray (11) and passed through the inlet (12) into the interior of the screen (14) for size classification with smaller particles able to pass through the mesh of the screen surface into the trough (10) and larger particles remaining in the screen (14). First means is provided to remove the smaller particles from the trough (10), and second means is provided to remove the larger particles from the interior of the screen (14) through the outlet of the trough (10). Weir means is provided in at least one longitudinal side of the trough (10) for removal of the cementatious water therefrom. Power means is provided to rotate the screen (14) and operate the first and second removal means. Gate means are provided for operation to close off the inlet (12) of the trough (10), the gate means is operable responsive to a pressure monitoring device (84) surveying throughput of mixture into the screen (10).

    • A planetary mixer comprises a cylindrical chamber (12) having greater length of diameter than axial height. A rotatable head (18) is mounted internally of the top (14) of the chamber (12). The head (18) carries at least one mixing paddle comprising a leg (22) and a paddle blade (24) to sweep across the bottom (16) of the chamber (12). The or each leg (22) is secured at its upper end at substantially right angles to a shaft (26). The shaft (26) being jounalled in two spaced brackets (28) secured to a base plate (30) of the head (18). The shaft (26) is rotatable in the brackets (28). A sleeve (32) is mounted on the shaft (26) between the two brackets (28) and having a first arm (34) extending outwardly therefrom substantially parallel to the plate (30). The first arm (34) has a shaft-rotation limiter (36) acting against the plate (30) and having a second arm (40) extending outwardly therefrom substantially parallel to the plate (30) in the opposite direction to the first arm (34). The second arm (40) is spring-biased to rotate the shaft (26) to cause the limiter (36) to abut the plate (30). The spring-biasing provides the respective leg (22) with a shock absorbency facility.
