The stereophonic system (102) and method include hardware and method steps that compress and modulate a 2-channel input (104a, 104b), filter the signal, and use a transmitter and line interface (116) to place the multiplexed FM signal (115) onto a power line carrier, and then decode and demultiplexed the signal and utilize an audio amplifier (129) to provide high quality audio output at a remote site without the use of dedicated wiring or airwave transmission. Similar steps and hardware are utilized by the monophonic version.

摘要： A method and system is provided for conducting secure power line carrier communications in full duplex over the power lines of a building. The method employs system control logic for (A) multiple extension arbitration logic, (B) privacy from eavesdropping and (C) security from third party central office line capture by means of a digital messaging system in each base (2) and extension (4) unit utilizing a unique and matching security key (preamble) with each message instructing the system to change operating states. Matching of the random security codes may be initiated by the user. By this means unauthorized access to the central office line (especially for long distance calls) and eavesdropping by other users in the same building with similar line carrier telephone extension products is prevented.

摘要： A system for the wireless connection of a conventional telephone instrument, such as a telephone set (150), modem (130), or facsimile machine (140), to a standard telephone line (101). The system has two units. A base unit (110) connects to the standard telephone line and communicates with one or more extension units. Extension units (120) transform the communications between themselves and the base unit into standard telephone line signals. The extension unit not only handles duplexed audio, but also senses the on-hook/off-hook status of the telephone instrument and commands the base unit to go off-hook when appropriate. The base unit detects a ringing voltage on the standard telephone line and commands the extension unit to couple a similar ringing voltage to the conventional instrument.
