    • An electric power source is disclosed connected to an electrically driven movable vehicle such as a mining machine by a trailing power cable with a flexible chain connected to the cable at a point on the cable spaced from the cable connection to the power source and with the chain connected on its other end to a switch on the power source for interrupting power to the cable upon tensioning movement of the chain outwardly from the power source. The chain is of less length than the length of the cable between the point at which the chain is connected to the cable and the end of the cable connected to the power source so that the power is interrupted before the cable is tensioned and any damage to the cable or connector is consequently avoided.

    • 586,736. Vitreous enamels. TRIGGS, W. W. (Pemco Corporation). July 12, 1944, No. 13333. [Class 56] A vitreous enamel intended to be fired directly on to a base of iron, steel or an alloy thereof, has in the frit or the mill-addition, or both, (a) a cobalt-containing adherence agent, (b) a phosphorus-containing constituent to increase the firing range, and (c) an antimonycontaining constituent to enable the amount of (a) to be reduced. The Specification gives examples of enamels in which these constituents, expressed as percentages, by weight on the smelted frit product, of Co3O4, P2O5 and Sb2O3, range from .05 to .9 of (a), 4 to .25 of (b) and 5 to .1 of (c). The firing range is stated to be from 1475‹ to 1600‹ F. (a) and (b) may be smelted in the frit, (c) being introduced in the mill-addition, but if (a), (b) and (c) are all smelted in the frit, oxidizing agents may be eliminated from the charge to avoid the conversion of (c) into a higher state of oxidation. (c) in a soluble form, and part of (a) with or without part of (b) may be included in a borax or other carrier glass which is mixed with a frit containing the remainder of (a) and (b), the mixture then being milled with clay and magnesium carbonate. (b) may be provided by salts such as lithium, barium, potassium or refined rock phosphates, e.g. di-sodium phos- .phate monohydrate, and (c) may have a trioxide valence or its equivalent, or may be provided by salts such as sodium, lithium, potassium or calcium antimonates, or by antimony sulphides. A raw batch which may be used in conjunction with the above constituents comprises flint, feldspar, anhydrous borax, nitrate and carbonate of soda, fluorspar, whiting and barium carbonate.
