    • PURPOSE:To reduce quenched strain at the time of gas-quenching a metallic working member and to improve the accuracy of a parts. CONSTITUTION:In a quenching gas circulating device system constituted of a quenching cylinder 1 provided with a supplying part and an exhausting part 3, 4 for quenching gas having suitable shape to the shape of the working member group 2 arranged in line, a blower 6 and two heat exchangers 7, 8 arranged at the inlet side and the outlet side of the blower, valves 12, 13 are arranged in the vicinity of both end parts of the quenching cylinder, respectively. At the behind parts of the valves, a four-directional switching valve 5 is arranged and a circuit for shortening the quenching gas circulating circuit is arranged between the four-directional switching valve 5 and two sets of the heat exchangers 7, 8, and in the shortening circuit, a valve 9 with actuator is arranged. By using the device, the opening degree of the valve 9 with actuator is controlled to optionally adjust the quenching gas flow rate in the quenching cylinder 1 during quenching process, and cooling speed to the quenching metallic working member 15 is controlled to the suitable cooling speed matched with the material characteristic and the shape to execute the gas quenching.

    • PURPOSE:To enable gas nitriding without deforming strains, at the time of nitriding machine parts essentially having a planar or linear shape, by executing the treatment while the parts to be treated are formed by using jigs made of ceramics. CONSTITUTION:For example, at the time of producing a leaf spring, the parts to be subjected to nitriding are held between jigs made of earthenware shown by the figure in such a manner that they stand in a line by 10 pieces, and gas nitriding is executed. Since ceramis are high in high temp. strength and creep hardly occurs at the treating temp., the parts to be subjected to nitriding can be restrained with high force. Furthermore, ceramics have a thermal expansion coefficient smaller than that of steel, and the control of the shape of the nitriding parts is easily executed. Moreover, since ceramics are not nitrided and are thermally and chemically stable, the secular change thereof is small, and the dissolving capacity for nitriding gas is approximately zero, so that the contact part with the jigs can also be subjected to nitriding free from inferiority to the noncontact part if only there is the feed of nitriding gas to some degree. Thus, by the same method, the stock can be formed into a final shape and can simultaneously be subjected to gas nitriding with high accuracy, and the elaminating effect of the process is high.
