摘要： The present invention relates to an optical fiber connecting device and an optical fiber quality measuring system using same. The optical fiber quality measuring system of the present invention includes a measuring unit for measuring optical fiber quality including PMD (Polarization Mode Dispersion) or optical loss of optical fiber; a connecting optical fiber including a first optical fiber connected to a transmitter end of the measuring unit and a second optical fiber connected to a receiver end of the measuring unit; an objective optical fiber connected to the first optical fiber and the second optical fiber such that optical quality of the objective optical fiber can be measured by the measuring unit; and a connector for physically and optically connecting the connecting optical fiber and the objective optical fiber. The connector includes a vacuum pump for generating vacuum pressure; and a contact retention unit for supporting the connecting optical fiber and the objective optical fiber which are uncoated and connected to each other, and retaining the contact state by sucking the connecting optical fiber and the objective optical fiber through the use of the vacuum pressure generated from the vacuum pump. The vacuum connection system of the present invention has a connection setting time shorter than that of a mechanical connection system and is suitable for use in the mass-produced optical fiber industry.

摘要： A modified chemical vapor deposition (MCVD) device for making an optical fiber preform is disclosed. The MCVD device includes a quartz tube and its junctions, a bubbler system for generating reaction gas to be supplied to the quartz tube, and a rotary connector for interfacing the bubbler system to a main shaft of the lathe supporting the quartz tube. The device isolates the quartz tube and its junctions, the bubbler system and the rotary connector from external atmosphere to keep the isolated area to be under the inert gas condition, thereby preventing moisture or hydrogen components from penetrating into the quarts tube from the external atmosphere.

摘要： A method for manufacturing an optical fiber preform including a dehydration process by photochemical reaction is provided. The method performs forming a clad and a core according to a predetermined refractive index profile by repeated deposition and sintering of soot particles by means of oxidation of soot generation gas, and a dehydration step for removing moisture and hydroxyl groups from a soot deposition region by means of photochemical reaction is executed between the deposition and sintering. The dehydration step activates dehydration gas into ionic or atomic state by irradiating light, in a wavelength range capable of inducing activation of the dehydration gas, from light source to the dehydration gas including chlorine and supplied to the soot deposition region, and then adsorbs the activated dehydration gas onto surface of the soot in order to induce dehydration reaction with moisture or hydroxyl groups.
