    • The application relates to optical fiber-based distributed antenna systems DAS or WLAN systems without a DAS infrastructure which are provided indoors, such as inside a building to provide indoor wireless communication for clients. Without such a system, wireless reception may be poor or not possible for wireless communication clients located inside the building. Other services may be negatively affected or not possible due to the indoor environment. For example, it may be desired or required to provide localization services for a client, such as emergency 911 (E911) services as an example. If the client is located indoors, techniques such as global positioning services (GPS) may not be effective at providing or determining the location of the client. Further, triangulation techniques from the outside network may not be able to determine the location of the client. This problem is solved by the application, in that the systems disclosed herein provide location information to a mobile terminal (24) via a remote unit, such as a WLAN AP (66) or a beacon terminal (78). The location information is provided within a Service Set Identifier SSID and comprises three dimensional coordinates of the remote unit. The three dimensional coordinates include the floor level. If the wireless client (24) may receive SSID signals from a plurality of APs, the client may calculate through any appropriate algorithm it's location. The wireless client (24) may include for this purpose an applet. Once calculated, the location may then be provided to other programs that can use that location, e.g., provision of E911 services or other location based services.
