    • PURPOSE: To prevent the transmission of the large amount of light beams by providing a liquid crystal filter element controllable correspondingly to the light transmission without being provided with defects in an automatically and manually adjustable protection device. CONSTITUTION: This lens assembly is provided with a power supplier 11, a switching device 12 controlled by a sensor 20 which responds to light generated by a welding work and a controller 13 realizable by the form of a controllable rectangular wave generator and all the devices 11-13 control the liquid crystal filter element 14. As soon as the sensor 20 recognizes that a bright light source for emitting non-continuous flickering light or the light of cyclical alternating intensity is present, the switching device 12 is excited, the controller 13 is activated and the liquid crystal filter element 14 is turned to a dark control of a manually adjustable prescribed value. When the flickering or alternating light source disappears, the switching device 12 is returned to the standby state and the liquid crystal filter element 14 is opened to the maximum transmissivity. Thus, the large amount of the light beams are not transmitted to the eye of a worker.

    • PURPOSE: To provide a dazzling preventing device in which illuminance dazzling eyes can be recognized by a clear reference. CONSTITUTION: A dazzling preventing device is provided with an optical filter member 3 in which transmissive light quantity can be electrically controlled, and an electric control unit 10 equipped with an optical sensor 8 connected with an optical filter member 3. The electric control unit 10 changes the transmissive light quantity of the optical filter member 3 according to the total amounts of a light irradiated to the optical sensor 8. This dazzling preventing device is controlled by the intensity of the light irradiated to the light receiving face of the sensor 8, and the intensity of the light is selectively measured by plural different photoelectric transforming members (receiving surface area parts). The maximum value is selected, and used for the adjustment of the increase or decrease of the transmissive light quantity in the filter member 3. In this method, the dazzling preventing device can be controlled with high efficiency as long as a point light source with dangerous intensity is clearly recognized except for an intensive but unclear light without any influence strong enough for denying the control of the filter member 3.
