    • In an air bag device the storing and assembling efficiency of which are improved by retaining the folded shape of an air bag (2) by a band-like member (7), the smooth breaking of the band-like member (7), the improvement of the assembling efficiency of the device and the controlling of the unfolding behavior of the air bag are attained. A breaking portion (8) of the band-like member (7) comprising a woven cloth is formed by breakage aiding holes provided in a row, and the weaving threads (9) of the woven cloth are inclined with respect to the breaking direction of the breaking portion (8). This enables the band-like member (7) to be broken smoothly. Since the band-like member (7) is broken after a cover (5) enclosing the air bag (2) therewith has been ripped open, an excellent bag unfolding behavior is obtained with a rushing-out speed of a central portion of the air bag during an initial period of an unfolding action of the air bag minimized.

    • An airbag wherein substantially triangular shaped side portion cloth pieces (21, 22) constituting side portion (20) of a quadrangular pyramid are caused to extend from side edge portions of a top side portion (16) and a bottom side portion (18) of an airbag having substantially a shape of a quadrangular pyramid that is toppled sideways, and wherein side edge portions (21a, 21b) of the side portion cloth pieces (21, 22) that confront each other are sutured, respectively, while side edge portions (14a) of a front side portion (14) are sutured to the respective side edge portions (21b, 22b) of the side portion cloth pieces (21, 22), respectively, the airbag being characterised in that a lateral sutured portion (24) and a longitudinal sutured portion (26) that are formed into a T-shape that is toppled sideways on the side portion (20) are both formed into an outwardly curved arc, whereby it is possible to produce an airbag having a predetermined deployed shape by keeping in balance elongations of the sutured portions and the other cloth portions of the airbag and it is also possible to decrease the stress acting on an intersecting point (28) between the sutured portions (24 and 26).
