    • Oil injection apparatus and methods for injecting oil directly between the cylinder sleeves and the pistons of both cylinder banks in a v-type engine are described. In one embodiment, and with respect to each cylinder, an oil port (128) in the engine block extends to an annular groove in the cylinder wall (106). An oil pump (136) supplies lubricating oil to the port (128) via a conduit, and under the control of a control unit. In operation, if the piston is thrust into the cylinder wall at the location of the groove when oil is being injected, the oil flows into the groove and is dispersed as the piston moves past the groove on the next stroke. If the piston is not thrust into the cylinder wall at the time oil is introduced, the oil flows into the cylinder and is dispersed by the piston.

    • A fuel system vapor separator (10) has an outer housing member (12) with a generally cylindrical internal wall (14) and has two open opposed ends. A generally cylindrical inner housing (16) member is fitted within the outer housing member and defines a sealed space (36) between the two housing members. The housing members are sealingly closed at both ends. An inlet introduces fuel into the central region of the inner housing member (16) while another inlet (38) introduces a coolant fluid into the space defined between the outer and inner housing members for cooling the fuel. A float operated valve (62) vents out fuel vapor accumulating within the inner housing member. The housing members are formed by an extrusion process such that they can be cut to various lengths depending upon the desired size of the assembled vapor separator.
