    • A circuit for supplying a light source (L) such as a high flux (HF) LED with Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) dimming capability includes: - a rectifier (10) for- receiving an input bipolar PWM modulated signal (v) representative of a desired dimming level for the light source (L) and produce therefrom a rectified signal; - a current regulator (14) to receive the rectified signal and produce therefrom a supply current for the light source (L); and - a control module (16) sensitive to the input bipolar PWM modulated signal (v) to control the current regulator (14) to produce a PWM modulated supply current for the light source (L) ; and - a capacitor (18) arranged between the rectifier (10) and the current regulator (14) to stabilize the rectified signal. The circuit typically includes ancillary circuitry (12), such as a microcontroller, connected to the capacitor to be supplied with the rectified signal as stabilized by the capacitor (18). The ancillary circuitry (12) is thus supplied irrespective of the dimming level associated with the input bipolar PWM modulated signal.

    • A driver arrangement for LEDs (L) includes a high frequency PWM controller (10) to deliver a LED feed voltage between a first (101) and a ground output line and a linear current regulator (12) coupled to the ground output line (102) of the controller (10) to regulate the LED feed current. The current regulator (12) can be selectively (Q2) coupled to a reference voltage (Vref, RlO, RIl) and a connection switch (14) is provided to connect the feedback pin (104) of the controller (10) to a scaled-down version of the voltage (Vout) on the first output line (102) of the controller (10). An on/off PWM control signal is provided on a control line (16) whereby: - in one of the on/off levels of the PWM control signal, the current regulator (12) interrupts the LED feed current, whereby the voltage (Vr) on the ground output line (102) of the controller (10) is floating and the connection switch (14) connects the PWM controller feedback pin (104) to the scaled-down version of the voltage (Vout) on the first output line (101) of the controller (10), and - in the other of the on/off levels of the PWM control signal, the current regulator (12) is coupled to the reference voltage (Vref, RlO, RlI) to control the LED feed current, and the connection switch (14) disconnects the feedback pin (104) of the controller (10) from the scaled-down version of the voltage (Vout) on the first output line (101) of the controller and the voltage (Vr) on the ground output line (102) of the controller (10) is regulated.
