    • A method and system are presented for use in real-time insertion of visual effects in a video stream. A reference image is processed by defining a set of reference features, and inserting the visual effects into the reference image. Successive video frames are grabbed in a sequence of video frames, and one of video frames is used as one snapshot image. The snapshot image (s) is/are processed by selecting reference features and determining a reference transformation. Independently of this processing of the snapshot image, the snapshot image and other video frames are processed to determine a sequence of transformations between them. These data are utilized to determine an operative transformation between the reference image and either one of the video frames, thereby enabling real-time management of the appearance of the visual effects in the video stream by using the operative transformation for the insertion of the visual effects in other video frames.

    • A narrow bandwidth broadcasting system for transmission of video and television via low bandwidth medium such as internet or radio links. To save bandwith, video scenes are separated into foreground and background objects and only foreground objects are sent to the viewers. However, graphical model or real image may be sent as a reference background and updated according to its own movement. The broadcast system also captures the video camera identification, position, orientation and field of view size for each video fields and sends it together with the foreground object to the viewer. The broadcast system also includes an object tracking apparatus, which captures the position in space of objects that appear in the scene. Shuch parameters allow the implementation of a 3-dimensional rendering at the receiver side.
