    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensing element which accurately senses the concentration of a gas to be sensed even if a reference gas is not used. SOLUTION: The gas sensing element 1 is equipped with: a sensing electrode 4 having activity with respect to the gas to be sensed; a reference electrode 5; and a solid electrolyte 3 for conducting ions and constituted so as to sense the concentration of the gas to be detected on the basis of the electromotive force between the sensing electrode 4 and the reference electrode 5.
