    • A coverslip holder assembly for a front face fluorimetry flow cell has a holder body and a hingedly attached clamp for releasably maintaining a coverslip adjacent the front face of the holder body and flow cell. The assembly is preferably a unitary arrangement wherein the clamp is hingedly mounted adjacent the bottom end of the front face of the holder body, and has a convenient snap lock release mechanism at its top end to selectively lock the coverslip in flush arrangement with the front face. The holder assembly can provide a biased snug fit with a variety of cuvettes or similar sample vessels, and enables the use of highly colored or fluorescent compounds for perfusion in front face fluorimetry operations.

    • A sound producing toy figure consists of a head portion including resilient opposing jaw members movable between open and closed positions, a sound producing unit including a speaker for outputting audible sounds, a push-button switch for selectively actuating the sound producing unit to produce audible sounds, a lever-type manual actuator for moving the jaw members between their open and closed positions, and a muffler movable between a first position wherein the muffler is spaced apart from the speaker so that the sound can fully emanate from the speaker, and a second position wherein the muffler substantially covers the speaker so that the sounds cannot fully emanate from the speaker. The muffler is pivotably mounted externally on the body of the figure and it is mechanically coupled to the actuator lever such that as the muffler is manually moved towards and away from the speaker, the actuator lever is correspondingly actuated to open and close the jaw members. The resulting movement effect is to muffle the sound when the jaws are moved closed, and to allow full loud sound when the jaws are open thus simulating that the sounds are actually emanating from the figure's mouth. The actuator lever is further operable for actuating the sound switch when jaw members are first closed to initiate sound production.

    • The action figure includes two arms mounted to the figure's torso for rocking movement toward the torso about laterally spaced axes, the action figure also including two legs that are mounted for pivotal movement to the torso in a scissors-like fashion. Integral with the rockable mounting means for each arm is an inwardly extending shank, the shanks projecting into end portions of a coil spring. When either arm is moved laterally toward the side of the torso, the spring is flexed into a V-shaped configuration. A link extends downwardly from the center of the spring so that the flexing action imparted to the spring causes the link to move downwardly or upwardly. Each unit for pivotally mounting the legs includes a crank pin that is receivable in forwardly and rearwardly located slots at the lower end of the link. The arms can be independently swung from a position adjacent the sides of the figure to overhead or outstretched positions without affecting their ability to oscillate the legs in a scissors-like manner and thereby simulate running, swimming and kicking movements.
