The thwart may comprise two stout telescopic boards c , c of waterproofed laminated wood, each with a metal strap d , d at its inner end in which the other board slides, the hole e in the upper board being larger than the hole e in the lower board. The mast f may be squared at the bottom, tapering to a round cross-section at the top, and it may have a stout peg i to extend into the lower hole e . It may consist of telescopic tubes held in the extended condition by pairs of spring-pressed plungers g snapping into holes h, or it may consist of separate short lengths assembled together by bayonet joints. • 562,947. Catamaran boats. MAY, N. H., and LUARD, W. B. April 12, 1943, No. 5808. [Class 113 (ii)] A canoe or boat a is provided on one or both sides with a cataman f mounted on the outboard ends of arms e which are so pivoted at their inboard ends in athwartship channelled guides b that the catamarans can be swung from an inboard position to an outboard position where they can also be adjusted laterally. The inboard end of each arm e carries rollers, whilst the outboard end extends downwardly and includes a pivoted portion e which is held rigid by a sleeve e . The lateral adjustment is controlled by spring-actuated bolts engageable in notches in the arms and interconnected by lanyards. When inboard, the catamarans may be lowered into a central well or rest on the well coverings m, n. The well l is protected by a sloping coaming r, and above gratings p are apertures o surrounded by canvas aprons s. The hull and the catamarans may be subdivided by transverse bulkheads into sections which may be interhinged or detachable from one another.
