    • A foil-type switching element comprises a first carrier foil and a second carrier foil arranged at a certain distance by means of an inner spacer. The inner spacer comprises at least one cut-out defining an active area of said switching element where at least two electrode structures are arranged between said first and second carrier foil so as to define at least one pair of spaced switch contacts. According to the invention, the switching element further comprises a first outer spacer layer, said first outer spacer layer being arranged on an outer surface of said first carrier foil and said first outer spacer layer comprising at least one opening in the region of said active area. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the foil-type switching element further comprises a second outer spacer layer, said second outer spacer layer being arranged on an outer surface of said second carrier foil and said second outer spacer layer comprising at least one opening in the region of said active area.

    • For the manufacturing of an input device, a sensor assembly (10) comprising a film-type pressure sensor (12) and a cover layer (14) is provided. The pressure sensor includes a first carrier film (18) applied against the cover layer, a second carrier film (20) and a spacer (22) attaching the first and second carrier films to each other. In an opening in the spacer, a first (24) and a second (26) electrode are arranged on the first and the second carrier film, respectively. The electrodes are arranged facing each other so that they may be brought closer together when the pressure sensor is compressed. The sensor assembly is arranged in a mould (32), so that the cover layer lies against a wall thereof. Plastic material (34) is then injected into the mould while a removable insert (30) arranged within the opening prevents the second carrier film from collapsing onto the first carrier film as the plastic material is injected.

    • An input device (310) for human-appliance interaction comprises a pressure sensor in form of a membrane switch (312) including a first carrier film (314), a second carrier film (316) and a spacer (318) with at least one gap defining a sensor cell (320). The input device further comprises a base member (322), on which the pressure sensor is applied with its second carrier film, and a cover member (324) exposed for user interaction and arranged on the first carrier film to transmit a force applied thereon to the first carrier film. The cover member is spaced from the first carrier film by at least one force-transmitting element centered on the sensor cell in such a way that the force applied on the cover member is transmitted to the first carrier film via the force-transmitting element and causes the first carrier film to bend into the sensor cell.
