    • Sequence of nucleic acids characterized by expressing, within a cell using molasses as a substrate in a culture medium, a protein or peptide capable of conferring on said cell increased resistance to molasses toxicity. The nucleic acid sequence is selected from the group consisting of a) the sequence illustrated in figure 1 or its complementary strand; b) the sequence between nucleotides 664 and 1591 of figure 1 or the complementary strand thereof, said sequence being the coding region; c) the sequence between nucleotides 664 and 2235 of the sequence of figure 1 or the complementary strand thereof; d) the sequence between nucleotides 1 and 1591 of figure 1 or its complementary strand; e) the sequence derived from one or the other of the sequences defined in (a), (b) or (c) by substitution of one or more of their nucleotides, and even addition or deletion of a number of codons, as long as ssaid sequence continues to code for a protein conferring the above-mentionned property on the host in which it is expressed.
