    • Disclosed herein is a coaxial multi-clutch transmission which can enhance fuel efficiency. The transmission includes a main input shaft, a first input shaft, a second input shaft, a first clutch, a second clutch, a power transmitting gear unit, an output shaft, drive gears and driven gears. The first and second input shafts have a coaxial structure and are power-connected to the main input shaft. The first clutch is provided on the first input shaft to control power connection between the main input shaft and the first input shaft. The second clutch is provided on the second input shaft to control power connection between the main input shaft and the second input shaft. The power transmitting gear unit functions to transmit power to the first clutch and the second clutch.

    • Disclosed herein is a method of operating a triple-clutch transmission. The transmission includes a main clutch and first and second clutches. The method includes shifting to first gear in such a way that the main clutch enters an engaged state while the first clutch is in a pre-engaged state and a second clutch is in a disengaged state. The method further includes shifting to second or higher gear in such a way that the main clutch maintains the engaged state and the first clutch and the second clutch alternately enter an engaged state and a disengaged state. The method further includes shifting to reverse gear in such a way that the main clutch enters the engaged state from the disengaged state while the second clutch is in a pre-engaged state and the first clutch is in the disengaged state.

    • A multi-clutch transmission having dual front-positioned gears and a method of operating the same are provided. Compared to a known dual clutch transmission, the multi-clutch transmission provides a simple structure, stable operation, and easy manufacturing and maintenance. The multi-clutch transmission includes an input shaft connected to a flywheel, first and second layshafts receiving rotating power from the input shaft, first and second front-positioned gears installed at respective front ends of the first and second layshafts, first and second clutches installed on the first and second layshafts in the rear of the first and second front-positioned gears respectively, first and second rotating-direction correction gears installed on the first or second layshaft in order to rotate the first and second layshafts in the same direction, and an output shaft interposed between the first and second layshafts and disposed parallel to each of the first and second layshafts.
