    • A video signal processing circuit, which performs contour adjustment by means of digital signal processing, is applicable to a viewfinder apparatus for a television camera and an image monitor apparatus, which can be operated both in an NTSC/PAL system and an HDTV system. The video signal processing circuit includes a contour-adjusting circuit for performing contour adjustment by peaking R, G, and B signals or by peaking a Y signal in an HDTV system and for outputting at least one adjusted signal; an inverse matrix transforming circuit for separating, by performing inverse matrix transformation, the R, G, and B signals from the adjusted Y signal, a Pr signal, and a Pb signal and for outputting the separated R, G, and B signals; and a selecting circuit for selecting, in accordance with the type of input video signals, either the R, G, and B signals in which the contour adjustment is performed or the Y signal, in which the contour adjustment is performed, and the Pr signal and the Pb signal, in which the contour adjustment is not performed.

    • A video display apparatus comprises a video-signal processing circuit for processing an input video signal, a PLL circuit for generating a clock signal, a discrimination circuit for identifying the format of the input video signal and a specification circuit for specifying the format of video information to be displayed. In addition, the video display apparatus also includes a diver-control-signal generation circuit, a driver-control-signal switching circuit and a PLL-signal control circuit. The diver-control-signal generation circuit is used for generating control signals for controlling a gate driver and a source driver which are used for driving a display panel in accordance with the identified format of video information to be displayed. The driver-control-signal switching circuit is used for selecting control signals generated by the driver-control-signal generation circuit for controlling the gate driver and the source driver in accordance with the identified format of the input video signal and a specified display format. The PLL-signal control circuit is used for controlling the clock signal generated by the PLL circuit in accordance with the identified format of the input video signal and the specified display format.

    • A support construction for an optical pick-up, such as used in a compact disc player, has a first leaf spring with an elongated opening defined between opposite sides in the longitudinal direction and an optical lens support centrally in the opening by a pair of support members extending from the opposite sides to allow the lens to be moved by a voice coil toward or away from the compact disc without sidewards deviation. The first leaf spring is supported on an intermediate base, and the intermediate base is supported by a pair of second leaf springs of similar construction, in order to allow the intermediate base to be finely adjusted by another coil in a plane parallel to the disc. The pair of second leaf springs are mounted to a slider which is driven radially of the compact disc.
