    • 620,750. Moulds for concrete beams. CONCRETE PILING, Ltd., MALCOMSON, J. C., and WALSH, J. M. Oct. 17, 1945, No. 27283. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group X] Beams for concrete floors &c. (see Group X), are moulded in apparatus containing a number of moulds each of which consists of a base 16, spaced from its fellows and supported on cross beams ; side walls 18 shaped to give the required profile; and end walls 19 which fit into slots in the side walls. The side walls for the whole assemblage of moulds are secured by double wedges 20'between an angle member 21 on a supporting cross beam and a spacer block 22. A hollow core, e.g. a galvanised iron tube 23, is located in each mould in circular holes in the end walls, and the cores are coupled by their handles .24, adjustable hooks 25 and a bar 27 to a winch 30. The moulds and cores and lower reinforcing rods in the mould space having been assembled, concrete preferably of a relatively dry mix is placed nearly to the top of the cores and the moulds are vibrated. A strip of strong paper may then be placed along the wres, the top reinforcing rods positioned by cross wires and the moulds then completely filled and vibrated. It is stated that the cores may then be immediately withdrawn. Where the beams are required to have solid ends, the core length within the mould is reduced and the core end closed by a plug supported by the end wall.

Jan. 21, 1927 Shop-windows and the like, lamps for lighting the interiors of.-In a combined lighting unit and advertising sign for shop-windows and like display purposes, the upper portion which reflects light downwards is formed integrally with means for carrying the source or sources of light. In the form shown, the opposite ends of an elongated tubular electric lamp bulb f are carried by sockets e provided on brackets d formed by bending down the ends of the horizontal portion a of the sheet-metal body of the device. The bulb f may be replaced by two ordinary bulbs. The portion a is formed integrally with a vertical portion b which is provided with an aperture or slot g and with upper and lower grooves or channel h for the reception of a metal stencil i, a strip of coloured gelatine, and a strip h of translucent glass. The bulb f illuminates in colour the design of the stencil i and the glass h reflects part of the light rearwardly. The sockets e carry hooks l for leads m which may serve to suspend the device and retain it at any desired angle. The Provisional Specificatian describes slight modifications in the nature and arrangement of the slides in the grooves.
